So I just hit 80, and am currently skinning/mining - I am going to drop skinning, and want to grab some new professions, but don't know what the best option is. I am trying to decide between LW/Enchant and Skin/LW. I just don't know how to decide...

I'm a newb, but why keep a gathering profession at that level when one loot item could fetch you enough gold to buy plenty of mats to get you going, and then you can just sell the products for more mats? I'm loving LW right now because I got the Gem Studded Leather Belt pattern, and the belt is fetching around 42 gold on my server until some idiot ruins the market for it. I think I had to be at skill level 200 for it which you should have the assets to breeze through having gathered til lvl 80. That's just an example, not a great one either with the gem cost, but, lots of stuff past 150 gives a great profit margin. Auctioneer is saving me from selling so many obscure items used in LW such as potions or long tail feathers, ect. and knowing what to bank has saved me a ton. Getting Auctioneer if you don't have it will also help you make the best Enchanting decisions because it tells you the reagent you will get from disenchanting and helps you decide if you'd rather sell the item.

Now this is of course based on the idea you are switching to make money. You could have a different reason. And disenchanting a green some idiot put up on AH for 20s for mats is fun for me. My LW is still a skinner at lvl 35, but not for long. My Enchanter is lvl 20 or so and she is rich. I'm solo PVE and casual right now so I'm not pissing off a guild hanging out at the AH bottomscanning for greens, and the PVP or raid types are going to have a totally different perspective.

Leatherworking can be good for a rogue but if you drop skinning it can be a pain buying all the mats , i found a rough guide so you could collect the mats before dropping skinning.

hxxp://www.blizzardguides.com/wow_leatherworking_guide.html

I think it is a fairly useful guide and i broke the link just in case admin dislike the active link ( message to admin if it is ok feel free to activate it ) that guide might be useful to any that want to take up leatherworking , i did try a search here but found nothing like it.

I would have said at level 80 i doubt LW is really worth it as most items can be brought anyway or there are better in instances/raids , gathering in the right areas is probably more profitable than any creative trade , i know a few people that have all the different mounts and all the pets and all the best gear that have so much gold they cannot find anything to spend it on yet have never ever done a creative trade for profit.

I have several trades on alts and i am doing it just for fun not for profit however if you want to do it for fun then any of your choices can work well.

You should have grabbed LW back at 70 - there's some beautiful gear that you can make and I was wearing my own stuff all the way till 80, in fact, it took Naxx25 to replace most of my home made leather goods.

the wrist enchants are nice but thats pretty much it in my opinion. Some of the new ulduar patterns i'd imagine would sell well, but other than that not much reason to take it. i'd say you should go Jewelcrafting and something else.
