How common are the new fishing rods?Follow

Disclaimer - not a QQ - just curious.

So I've been working the fishing dailies pretty religiously since they came out on five toons and my GF on her one toon high enough to do them and to date I've only got a fishing rod as a reward once (ironically enough on the alt with the lowest fishing skill - the bone rod for my hunter) and my GF never.

I don't know if we've just been having bad luck or if the rods are simply uber-rare?

As a side, we haven't gotten the NC pet as a reward yet with anyone and only got the +5 fishing line enchant once as well (ironically enough, also on the low skill hunter) - as a plus point everyone but one toon (more irony - also the hunter) now has the hat.

How's everyone else's luck been on this?

I've been doing the fishing dailies most every day on my DK and several times a week on my main, and I've gotten three pole drops so far.

I got the hat very quickly, yet to see the rod or pet after probably 50+ tries.

I'd go with fairly rare as well. So far I've been doing the dailies semi-regularly with 4 chars and have only seen one pole and one pet drop so far. Then again, RNG has always had a hatred for me :(

I do the fishing daily with two toons, one every day and the other about four times a week. I've been doing the fishing daily religiously with at least one toon since it first appeared in BC. I have not gotten any of the +fishing equipment yet. On either toon.

Now, having my undergraduate education in the science field I understand that all reactions seek equilibrium, so - there's someone somewhere who is getting a lot of +fishing equipment from these dailies!

I do the Dalaran daily every day on three toons, only one Bone Fishing Pole so far.

Other rare rewards to date: one brilliant stormjewel, 2 siren's tears, one Sealed Vial of Poison and one strand crawler pet.

I was happy that my level 72 got the Sealed Vial of Poison, nice to get the extra XP.

I've gotten the lock box twice as a reward, both times it had the +int gem and some misc blue gems, got the +agi once and +sta once as lose rewards, have yet to get the sealed vial, although GF got it twice so far.

Once I finally got over the line of thought that WoW fishing was stupid and boring ( I actually enjoy it now), I did the BC fishing daily, well, daily. I picked up the hat and some of the other doodads fairly quickly, but never one of the pets.
Once the xpac came out, I was all over that daily (cooking as well), and picked up the jeweled rod fairly early there too.
One fancy jewel so far, some nice gray vendor items, but no pet still, except for the riding turtle that is.

I got the bone fishing rod today. I like it better than the Kalu'ak one, soo I' making it my default fishing rod.

I've probably done the fishing daily about 20 times so far. I can't be asked to do it every day, but it's not a bad way to spend 5-10 min I guess.

So you're the guy balancing the other side of my equation!!

Actually, I got the +fishing hat last week. Wewt!! Now my problem is that whenever I equip it, I forget to switch it out afterward, and I have my helm and cloak set to not show. At least when I forget to unequip my Kaluak fishing rod I can see it right away.

The bone and jeweled fishing rods have each been observed to be in bags of fishing treasures about 0.5% of the time.

I promise I didn't pay anyone for me to get that fishing rod cynyck. Hehe.

In my defence, I'll add that it's 20 times or so on my main, and probably 10-15 times on alt. It's dropped on main only so far. No epic gems so far though, and that's what I'd really like to get.

I've done fishing quest in dalaran nearly every day since it came out on one character, and for about a month on 2nd character.

I've had 2 jeweled poles (1 on each), 1 pet, 3 epic gems. No fishing hats.

I have 3 toons and they are all have maxed fishing with the fishing hat. I had the jeweled fishing rod drop for my mage so I stopped doing the Kaluak on him. (I HATE THOSE DAILIES). I pushed through exalted on my warrior and pally so they have that rod. I had a storm gem drop once (no box just the gem). I keep getting that stupid gimmick compass. It is not fun or cute or even useful so I vendor it.

I've been doing it fairly religiously on my paladin (maybe five times a week) and now my hunter has high enough skill to make Jewel of the Sewers worth it (I can skill up four or five points during the quest, but I'm not flying somewhere for the privelege).

I got a lockbox with stormjewel, the poison vial, and a stormjewel on its own between one Thursday and the next Monday. I haven't seen anything else out of the ordinary before or since.

I always thought i was unlucky, but now I think i am luckier than most with the fishing quest. I have only gotten a pole once(the blue skull pole),the pet, and i have been getting the SP gem about once every 2-3 weeks or so, and last week i got it twice(about 5 or so now). I keep getting the hat and compass as well, probably 5 or so of each~~

I have received both rods, the strand crawler, and High Test Eternium Fishing Line doing the dalaran fishing dailies every day since Wrath came out. I've also gotten the sealed vile 5 or 6 times

I can believe that - I've actually gotten the pet crab twice now (2 different toons) but still only one rod on five toons. :-(

My main has 4 fishing rods. The original Nat Pagle's Extreme Angler FC-5000 from the now removed fishing quest, the new Nat's Lucky Fishing Pole, the walrus guys Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole and one from the fishing daily, the Jeweled Fishing Pole I think. The Jeweled Pole dropped after a couple of months of doing the dailies. About a month before that I got the Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat and almost sold like the other useless items you get from the fishing bag. To answer your question...I don't think the poles are that common

For the first two or three months of WotLK I did the fishing daily every single day on my main. Then I took a month or so off the game and haven't been as faithful as I should about doing the dailies. Especially now that my druid is also finally a lvl 80 and I'm working on leveling some of my other alts, so I can get their crafting skills up.

I'm probably doing at least one fishing daily about 4 times a week or less, though sometimes I do it on both characters. Despite my low attendance, yesterday I somehow pulled the bone rod on my druid. YAY!

So it's either less rare than we think or I was extremely lucky. And I don't often get lucky.

Now if I could only fish up that damnable sewer rat!

the fishing daily was not put into the game until a few weeks/months after Wrath, sorry lion, your timeline is a little off. no doubt you did it a ton when implementaed, but that didnt happen the first few months of the expansion.

I do the fishing daily off and on on a few different toons. over all, i have done it maybe 50-60 times between all my alts. so far from best as i can remember i have gotten 1 storm jewel, 1 fishing hat, 4 compases, 1 pet, 2 of the 100g vendor trash, a few canes, but i have yet to see a fishing pole drop.

LOL I wouldn't be surprised if my timeline is off. Sorry for the confusion. What I should have said was that I started doing them every day the moment they were available to me.

Also, before I could do those dailies I of course had to GET to Dalaran, which didn't happen till at least two months after the expansion hit.

I've been doing the quest almost every day with at least 2 characters(druid and mage), and sometimes with another 2(rogue and dk), depending on the quest.

So far my druid has gotten the Jeweled pole, mage got the Bone pole, rogue got the Jeweled pole, and yesterday my DK got the Crawler.

I've gotten 1 Storm Gem, on my druid. I got the fishing hat with mage, who never got it in Outland. And I've gotten so many compasses, canes and jungle hats that my alts all look pretty cool when standing around town!

The compasses of course are pointless-except on my 2nd druid-his name is Geocacher, has the title 'the Explorer' at level 71, and wouldn't be caught without his trusty compass(need GPS now, hehe)! :)
