They cost a lot of mats.
They don't seem to do much.

Are they just time/money sinks before getting to 450 and Fish Feast?

Pretty much yeah, I think they're just to bridge the gap from 425-450 (although I only used them to get from 446-450).

Flavor (pun not intended).

They provide something special outside of stats.

Wow - what a wasted time/gold/effort sink...

They don't do anything but change your size. From a utility point of view, yeah they're basically useless. From a fun point of view, I quite enjoy them. There's really nothing like tanking Archavon with a gnome that isn't even tall enough to see the top of his boot :p. And put her on a turtle mount and she becomes adorability personified!

The Great Feast is the only recipe I have that is yellow to 400. The other recipes are green. As the Dalaran cooking award recipes are all 400 skill level it's a bit of a pain that this is the way to break that barrier.

1) Skilling up on
2) Just for fun

As a side note, they're worth (either 10 or 20g - been a while) a stack to the vendors - I know the raw mats are worth more on the AH but at least they're worth a little something for skilling up with.

Combine the Giant Feast with a Winterfall Firewater and hilarity ensues.

Does the trick for making a Tauren 100 feet tall still work - I'd love to see one do it with a mammoth?
