The OP says it all: which of the 2 sells better, the ore or the bar?

The profit of each of them is about the same (1 Titanium sells for about the same as 2 Titanium ore), but which of the 2 is more in demand?

Well, I don't think titanium can be prospected, and since not everyone who needs titanium bars can smelt, I don't really see why there would be ANY demand for titanium ore.

I would say it depends on just how lazy people are.

Not that i have checked it but both will sell exactly the same except i am betting that one form will always sell for more depending on your server.

As odd as it seems, I find that I can't hardly get rid of titanium bars, but titanium ore is a guaranteed seller on my server (Velen). Maybe we've got some lazy miners on the server?

The reason I ask is, a couple of months ago I could not sell any bar of saronite, the ore however, I could sell, same with Titanium.

Yesterday however, I thought I give selling bars a try and now the bars, for both, were selling (I did not even train for melting Titanium yet, so I had to do that first!). So maybe people are getting lazy now.

While I understand that farming materials is usually more economical, I usually end up dropping my gathering skills in favor of a second crafting skill, and just buy my materials off of the auction house. I was working on Engineering the other day, and just bought the Cobalt bars, Saronite bars and some other odds and ends that I needed to build enough stuff to level it up (433 engineering so far, and the only reason to go higher would be to build the Chopper).

I'll run with a gathering profession at lower levels, but I don't have any active currently unless you count disenchant, and that pays all my bills.

You can smelt thorium ore from 250-290. If I powerlevel mining on an alt, I buy as much thorium ore as possible, then turn in into bars. Usually you can come close to breaking even when you resell the bars, and you've saved yourself hours of scouring EP trying to locate nodes for skillups.

It really just depends on your market.

Once I drop Mining, I'll need to buy bars if I want to make anything.

I'd assume the two are about in equal demand.
