Skinning over 300?Follow

I have a level 41 warlock with skinning/mining. His skinning has maxed out at 300 and I can't seem to find out if/how it can go higher than that.

I checked the database here and on thottbot but couldn't really find much help. The one here seems to stop at 300 but also seems based on pre-expansion material.

Somewhere I saw something about trainers in Howling Fjord or Dalaran but I have no idea where those are or if/how I can get to them?

Am I just s.o.l. until I get into higher levels or is there some way I can keep this leveling?

Skinning trainer in Hellfire Peninsula will get you to 375.

Trainer in Howling Fjord, Borean Tundra or Dalaran will go to 450. (The Borean Tundra trainer for horde is located at the Taunka village, not the starting town).

In addition to training, you'll also be limited by the level of what you skin.

The higher level your skinning goes, the same level mobs will go gray and you'll no longer get skill ups. So, you won't be able to progress your skinning until you get to the next tier of mobs that aren't gray.

I hope that makes sense. It's like mining...you can't level to 450 on copper. You have to find progressively higher level nodes. Same with skinning. You need progressively higher level mobs.

Seek and you shall find ;-)

Basically, for 300-375 you'll need to hit the skinning trainer in Outland, which will require a mage teleporting or a warlock summoning you to Shat City.

For 375-450 you'll need to hit one of the two starting zones in the xpac - these you can reach from the new airship towers set up at various Horde and Ally capital cities.

I can't promise it, but the xpac skinning trainers may also be able to teach 300-375 level skinning, thus saving you trying to beg a ride to Shat.

As noted, you'll only be able to take your skinning so far in the old world as eventually the mobs are going to start going trivial to you. Once you hit high 50s though and goto Outland the mobs there should take you most of the rest of the way to 450.

You need to be level 50 to get your skinning over 300. If you can't get to shattarath or honor hold yet, you can take the northern boat from menethil harbor to howling fjord. there are many trainers right there when you get off the boat & you don't have to fight anything to get to them.

Actually, this was changed in Patch 3.0.3:

The level requirements required to train gathering skills have been removed.
