Alchemy discoveries!Follow

Is it possible to discover Burning crusade recipes whilst making and using northrend recipes?

It would be very annoying to have to go back to using BC materials just to get these recipes (yes, i'm a completionist/perfectionist...so I NEED them!)

I'm not talking about northrend alchemy research here, but just making elixirs/potions/transmuting wotlk recipes and getting those random discoveries...any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

I don't believe it's possible. The mechanics of the two are different, for starters. But, pretty sure that you have to crank out TBC flasks/elixirs/pots/transmutes to make TBC discoveries. A quick look at Wowwiki shows no TBC discoveries come from Northrend Alchemy Research, so I don't believe Northrend Alchemy Research will ever give you TBC discoveries.

Sorry, you're going to have to go back to TBC stuff.

Additional posters have invalidated this post. It's true you can't discover TBC stuff with Northrend Alchemy Research, but you can discover them making Wrath flasks, elixirs, pots.

Sigh, sadly, I've yet to get a single previous list alchy discovery from the new recipes, in fact, I've only gotten discoveries from xmutes and alchy research thus far.

Ah well...anyways, I had thought as much initially, but then I have this add-on i'm sure some of you also have, Ackie's recipe list, and that states for certain of these BC discoveries that they are 'obtained via discovery by using burning crusade or higher ingredients...I felt hope for a second there!

Anyways, guess someone should let the creator know if this is not the case.

Potion, Elixir, Flask Discoveries

In Burning Crusade, making potions, elixirs, or flasks with BC ingredients could possibly randomly teach one of five flask recipes or a potion recipe. In Wrath, it does not appear to be the case that new Wrath recipes are discovered by making Wrath potions, elixirs, or flasks. However, reports show that you do have a chance to discover one of the six discoverable BC recipes when making Wrath items.

Looking deeper on wowwiki, I found the above. The bolded part claims that discoveries of BC recipes using Wrath mats have been reported. I'd be interested to know if anyone can confirm the statement? I'm reading that with a bit of skepticism, however, since it seems unsubstantiated by Wowwiki.

So, it may be possible after all.

My hunter discovered the Flask of Fortification recipe (main TBC tanking flask) while skilling up on Northrend recipes.

Yes you can discover BC recipes when making northrend pots.

It is just as rare in BC, so of course it wont happen but on very rare occasions, but it sure is possible. I have had 1 discovery of a BC flask and 2 of Outland transmutions at this point. Good luck!

Yes you can discover BC stuff when using the Northrend "Research" sadly to say. I have discoverd ones I already had several times. I no longer even try due to wasting the materials on the old BC stuff. IMO poor planning on Blizzards part.
