So looking at the upcoming patch us enchanters will get a break on the 30 and 40 infinit dust requirement on some enchants. Only problem is that they are making you use a Dream shard instead. Also I hear they will beincreasing the required number of Dream Shards for the recipes in Dalaran.

So the question is will the price of dream shards sky rocket? Right now I'm lucky to find them for 15g or less. The average stack sits on the AH for about 800gold.(40each). I've gone ahead and bought most of the recipes I thought I would use the most of. Some random ones that cost 10DS each I left. I'm just worried that Its going to be just as expensive to do the enchants even with the lower amount of Dust requirements? What does everyone else think?

The question is really "profit now, or profit later?". What use can you put the money you make now to? Will you be able to make more gold between now and the patch? The answers differ between individuals, and I (at least) have no idea how long it will be until the patch is installed. For me, the answer would be sell now (to the people who think they might be able to resell at a profit!), and don't worry about any additional gold.

Dream Shards are a lot easier to come by in WotLK than Large Prismatic Shards were in TBC. There are so many blues floating around Northrend, and there are so many blues made by crafters to skill up on that get dumped on auction for a pittance that it's pretty easy to keep a steady supply of Dream Shards going. I have 3 sets of Temepered Saronite Bracers on my D/E alt right now that were originally slated for auction. I listed all of them with a trivial undercut and they were returned 48 hours later. A quick run back to the AH showed why...there were 8 for sale for 13g each. That's a 99% guaranteed Dream Shard for 13g...for something that took 20-30g worth of mats to make. If I was in a position where I cared about gold, I would have snatched all the 13g beauties up and D/E'd them, but I've got a stack of Dream Shards just sitting there already with no real use for them atm.

Speculation is always risky. You could store up what you have and buy whichever cheap ones you can find in anticipation of a price hike post-patch and find that everyone else has done the same and now the market is flooded. Conversely, you could sell everything you have now and come back a week after the patch to find that you could have earned double the gold if you had waited.
