I've heard a rumor that you can repair in the field at higher levels with BS. While I'd love for this to be true I find it hard to believe since I can't find anything to confirm.
Heard it too but I don't believe it made it out of test (that or they intend to release it when they release the 450 skill recipes).
I always found it strange that I could make swords, but not fix the one I'm using. Trade secret I guess.
Now why would you want to fix a broken-down old sword, when you can just make a brand spanking new one instead? I kid, of course. This always bothered me, too. My BS toon can forge some of the most complex creations known to the races, but if something gets a little banged up he has to take it to some scrub to repair? I mean, how does a bowyer know how to fix armor anyway? =P

Engineering can make repair bots and you can pay for a 20k mount that comes with a repair vendor. Only ways to repair in the field.
I'm a level 448 LW - if I can stitch together the armor I'm wearing then I'd think that I'd have a somewhat better idea how to repair a hole in it then a robot made by an engineer.
