Yes it is official! They hate us! I know they gave us ret buffs but that was just a cover up....they didnt give us any enginnering healing goggles! I mean WTF? That was a greatchance to flaunt my awsomness at lvling up engineering! and now they took that away....i hate my life.

Engineering in general needs more goodies. Everyone else and their dog seems to get dailies and neat stuff that they can add on to the base skills they get from the trainer. Engineering gets trainer schematics, motorcycles, and the SCRAP-E schematic from the quest in Storm Peaks. (There might be more, but not that I've found.)
It's very, very early in the expansion though. Plenty of time for things to be added.

Engineering sucks currently. I foolishly plowed through the last few points flippantly assuming the goggles would be amazing like the BC goggles were, only to realize that the boomkin head I looted the first time I ran Heroic UK was already superior to it.
Really the only item I'm at all happy with is my Sonic Booster, which is a solid addition to my feral tanking set. However I fully expect that even that would be easily replaced if I did a little research on tanking trinkets.
Maybe as I research out the other tradeskills I'll discover that their epic-crafted items are equally as obsoleted by heroic gear (which would suck.) Until then, engineering just strikes me as a bad tradeskill at 80.

I love the tanking goggles and the Motorcycle. I think Engineering is great. I also heard there will be a patch that will update tradeskills and maybe give us some new recipes. I hope its true.

The swiss army knife thing (basically jumper cables for non-engineers) should be viewed as a premo addition - finally hunters and rogues no longer have no excuse to not be able to try to rez the healers when they survive wipes!
Personally, I think that should be required gear for every class that doesn't have a rez spell.

This is what you are thinking. gnomish army knife. Unforunately while all the items on it are use able by non engineers the use ability takes engineering, so really it doesn't change much in terms of who and what can res only reduces number of slots wasted.

For progressing Warrior Tanks who need fast to reach a full epic status I think Engineering is just Great.
1.A very nice Tank-Warrior oriented Helmet (That will be used for Loooong time)
2.A Gun Tank-Warrior oriented Gun (That is the best there is)
3.A tank oriented Trinket (Good while leveling)
4.Farming clouds for income.
5.Gnomish army knife is a nice gadget to have although never needed. (I think rogues benefit mostly out of this)
6.Motor Vechiles... YES WE LOOK COOL( image-lol )
7.We can get semi epic very fast by supplying mats to BS friends... and look very very cool as soon as we hit 80...

Come to think of.... there isnt any profession that fits a pallys profile...
