Rogue tailoringFollow

Hi, I am a (currently 71) female gnome rogue currently with professions enchanting and mining.

I am wondering if it is worth dropping mining and picking up tailoring, mainly for the magnificent flying carpet, which is so cool!
It would also mean I can make my own bags I guess.

I am keeping enchanting regardless of my other prof, but im not sure whether its worth dropping mining for tailoring, as there are not a lot of advantages for a rogue with tailoring

Cloth armour only. all of the nice BoP made items will be of no use to a rogue. If you are at all wanting some of the crafted items to wear, you are SoL

Cloth is easy to come by until you pass netherweave. should be easy and not that expensive to level up for the most part.
making your own bags is great, and can earn money.
you can DE everything you make to level up with.
you can get the passive skill to collect more cloth in northrend, which will help you level up your profession, and give you lots of cloth for the AH.

its a personal call, if the rug is worth it too you, go for it.

Yosalt is pretty much right. If you want to put in the time, more power to you. Tailoring is probably one of the easier ones to skill up quickly. Just don't expect to get any armor that will be useful to you, like, ever.

If all you want tailoring for is the flying carpet, I'd say pass.

It will be expensive to level tailoring, one way or another. If you buy the cloth off the AH, it will definitely be costly. Mid level cloth (mageweave, in particular) gets very pricery. If you decided to farm the mats yourself, it's still costly. The cost is time. It would take quite a while to farm up all the cloth needed to level up tailoring.

To top it off, there isn't much a rogue can use in the cloth department. You may be able to sell some bags, or a few minor things. But, the long and short of it probably be that you're paying a heap of money/time just to get the flying carpet. It is pretty cool, but it's up to you how much that 'cool' is worth.

In addition dropping mining will likely lose one of your sources of income, presuming that's what you're doing with mining.

Just my two copper.

Netherweave nets are great for PvP.

Bags are great for anyone.

The flying mount is cool.

It pairs well with enchanting.

I can't see it helping you with any gear, but since most recipes are BoE now anyways, you'll always be able to still buy the gear.

Not the best trade for a Rogue is Tailoring but by doing the easy cheap recipes and disenchanting the results it would be great to level your enchanting , i should know as 300 is simple to get in enchanting/tailoring with my Mages , beyond that i know it does get harder but still a good combo to have.

edited to add this-- And it is good as the disenchanted mats do sell for some crazy prices , one of my Mages has made over 7000g and is not yet level 40.

The carpet requires tailoring 410 for slow and 425 for fast. To get to that level, you are going to use several thousand gold worth of cloth. The good news is that you can de a lot of the things you make.
