I put this in another topic but the skill forum might be better. I have a friend that took up herbalism. But the healing spell doesnt show up in his spellbook. How do you get it to show up? Thank you.

Read, and though shall be informed.

Edit:

The same levels will be needed to get effects from the skinning buff as well, and you can search wowwiki to see the health increases you will get from the mining buff as well.

At later levels the benefit of having these abilities is minimal at best. With Mining capped I'm given an additional 500 HP. If you're a level 80 character in plate that has upwards of 20k HP, an additional 500 is an afterthought. Same goes for the healing buff which gives back a maximum of 2000HP. Which can be useful say if you're in a mid fight and about to die, but popping a pot which gives you the health back instantly would prove the better choice as opposed to Lifeblood which gives it back over time.

As a healer, I generally have to save my - one potion per boss fight - for a later mana pot if things go Tango Uniform. As a paladin, I'd prefer not to use a healing spell on myself in a raid, and even in a 5-man I'd certainly not want to waste a GCD on myself if I can avoid it. That 1200 (later 2000) might not heal me entirely, but it seems to put me in a less dangerous place. In a real dire situation, that's another second or so for me to switch Beacon to myself so that propping up the tank gives me a lifeline while the DPS die. At first I ignored it too, but while it's no legendary thing, it's turning out to be more useful than it first seemed.

I use it on my rogue non-stop while questing and grinding. the 1200/2000 health refund every 3 minutes, helps me go much longer without the need to bandage or eat.

OK, I dont know if I misunderstood the OP, or if the discussion just drifted, but I think I have the same question:
On my human warlock, who has herbalism, I get a spell that heals me (something about my skills at herbalism allows me to use the plants energy to heal myself... blah blah blah) BUT as a Dwarf hunter with herbalism I dont have that spell? does the spell come up with a certain herb skill level? Both toons are pretty young, and the dwarf isn't as high in herbs as the human, is that the difference?

Is it possible that you can only have one of the gathering skill buffs? on my dwarf i have herbs and mining, maybe it gave me the increase for the mining instead of the heal from herbs. I cant find anything that explains why my Dwarf doesnt have the HoT spell?

at herb skill level 75 you learn rank one "herb Heal" (not sure what the spell is called)
at 150, you get rank 2, 225 rank 3...and so on.

it should appear in your spell book on the first page.

it should be the same with all of the gathering spell buffs, the rank is automatially increased when you skill herb/skin/mine to (level 75 Rank 1)---(150 rank 2)--(225 rank 3)---(300 rank 4)---(375 rank 5)---(450 rank 6)

LifeBloom and it works fine on my alch/herb Priest. Like said above, should be on the General tab of your spellbook

it should show up in the general tab of your spell book after each "cap" (75,150.225,300,375,450 unless your a tauren in which case add 15 to each of those)

intresting tidbit for blood dk's with herbalism vampiric blood does increase lifebloods health per tick

and they are changing toughness from straight hp back to a sta value meaning it will get buffed by talents as well (especially nice for a prot pally)

See, I used to think this way as well. However, Lifeblood has a few advantages to it.

1. It is off the GCD. You can use it while using other abilities.
2. It does not share cooldowns with trinkets or potions.
3. In long fights you can use it multiple times.
4. You don't need to stop and use it like a bandage.
5. As a bear tank I can use it without shifting out.

That said, it has obvious limitations:

1. 2000 hp over 5 sec is not great when you have over 30k hp like me :-P
2. I would much rather have 50sta, since that gets multiplied by my bear bonus (I think it's stamina, not pure hp, right?)
3. The three minute cooldown is pretty long.

Where this ability has really shone for me is when my healer is a little slow to get me some lovin'. I pop Lifeblood, a potion, and my Wrathgate trinket. That gives me an extra 7000 or so health, which lasts me just long enough to survive most times.

I think most posters are missing the point here , the spell as has been said is in the general tab of your spell book and can easily be overlooked , i know it took me a while to spot it , look for a greenish circle and that is it , as for end game , who cares if it only gives 2000 or so health , most players need the bonus heals at lower levels if they have no heals or in those oops what have i got myself into times , and then blizzard have done a fantastic job with a bonus to a gathering prof as many will agree .

An example is one of my Mage's was using the heal to fully heal herself as she was fighting and even while being hit she was able to regain most of her health , now that is great so what is wrong with that ?.

Nothing's wrong with it. And I much prefer having a bonus to the profession as opposed to before when we had nothing except a great way to make some gold :D. It's natural to compare the different ones, however; and right now I think the mining bonus comes out on top. They're all useful, of course. It's just a question of "how useful." 50 Stamina > 2000 heal every 3 minutes for a tank.

... but...

being able to herb while in flight form > having to shift out to mine ;-)
