LW from 435 onwardFollow

Hit 438 knocking out greens earlier tonight - Icescale and Frosthide are both still yellow but I'm out of Arctic Fur and its going on the AH for 100g each right now. >_<

Now if I'm reading http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/skill.html?line=165 right, the two leg patches are going to green out at 440 and go grey at 445, meaning that you need Artic Orbs to get the last five points and realistically speaking, should probably use them for your last 10 points as it'll probably take at least five combines per skill up of the armor patches.

Am I reading this right - any other thoughts on alternate routes?

I'm sitting at about 423 and until I have a ready supply of Frozen Orbs, I'm in no rush to push it any further. I've already made both of the rare pieces that were an upgrade for me (gloves and boots) and beyond that, I'm a ways away from tanking heroics on a regular basis and even my dps is not quite where I'd like it to make them my bread and butter.

I've got about 13 Arctic Fur in the bank and wrist augments are still orange for me. Most of my leather has come from cruising Sholazar near the Nessingwary camp and skinning the mountains of rhino/cat corpses people leave behind, but I'm still always running short.

I don't see too many patterns requiring 450 skill...I'm assuming those will be later on in the expansion or at the very least, will produce gear that I won't "need" for some time. My realm has already seen its first grand master leatherworker (when he links his recipe book in chat, it says, [Realm first! Grand Master Leatherworking]).

I'd say either set aside some serious time and skin what you need, or set aside leatherworking for a bit until the market cools down and prices are settled to more reasonable levels. Give it a month or two and then plot the route to 450...there will be a lot more information and it'll cost you a lot less.

Dinged 440 the other day and the arctic fur augements went green for me - yeah - just going to wait for 80 and then work my way from there. I'll be either the only or one of two 80 tanks (I'm a feral druid - we've got a pally that's not sure if he wants to stay ret or go tankadin) in my guild (will probably ding tonight) so I'll have a bit of an edge at least.

Last I checked on AH< orbs were going 10-15g each so it's cheap compared to other mats needed to make 440+ LW skills. Arctic fur has been going 50g to 75g on AH depending on time of the day.

I got my LW to 440 so I can make all the stuff. Now I just level up if someone wants something. There is no need to pay gold for mats (or use mats you could sell for gold) just to get your skill to 450. You get no benefit other than bragging rights and a sense of satisfaction :)

This of course is coming from a LW with no skinning toons, so it really hurts me to level each expansion :)

My LW is 449, I have made a few things for myself and given a few presents to friends for christmas. Its not too hard to go from 440-450, just make trollwoven spaulders and waistguard (or whatever your class specific awesomeness is) and whatever back armor you think would be best for your class. Thats 3 definite skill points, then just keep an eye on trade chat, every now and then someone will be looking for a leatherworker in Org or one of the other cities, I just answer every person that wants something crafted regardless of whether they want to tip or not. Now that I have a couple nice items I am not too worried about getting my last skillups.
