Through a link in an article at WoWInsider, I found this list of accomplishments at WoWHead.

Holy Cow!

Avid fishers are going to be busy.

Also, just glancing through the lists, I notice a couple things:

- Looks like some old world schools will have subtypes: Teeming, Abundant, Lesser, Sparse.

- Northrend looks to have a much wider variety of new fish than TBC introduced. I see 10 different types of schools listed for Northrend, whereas there are only six different Outland types.

- No more standing around in town. The Coin Master should keep all of us fishers busy in the Dalaran fountains. There are 23 copper, 15 silver, and 15 gold coins that are needed to complete the achievement.

Good luck all!

Ouch, that title will be well deserved. Will take quite a long time to finish.

The Fishing Diplomat accomplisment will be fun on a PVP server, especially with a non-stealth class.

Fish in Orgrimmar+Stormwind.

The others (copied from wowhead):

Gain 350 Fishing and buy "Grand Master" level.
Fish every school type in Outland and Northrend.
Fish every junk node type in the game.
Fish in Orgrimmar+Stormwind.
Win the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza (Retroactive if you have the reward in your inventory).
Have/have used the Magical Crawdad Box from Terokkar.
Have a rare fish (Max Weight, Weapon or Offhand).
Do all 5 fishing dailies from Barlo.
Fish up Gahz'ranka in ZG.
Fish up The Lurker Below in SSC.
Learn Find Fish via a Weather Beaten Journal.
Fish up every coin from the Dalaran Fountain.
Catch 1,000 fish total (NOTE: You will probably get this from doing all of the above :P)

The fishing diplomat will be difficult on pve servers as well. On pve servers once you step into a capitol city, you are automatically flagged for pvp. This also brings out a lot of people who never see pvp in the real world to come on over and gang up on the sucker that stepped into their city. Because of this, about the only world pvp that seems to happen on the pve server I am on is during the fire festivals where you have to visit all the bonfires in each main city.

Cool, I did not know that. Will make the accomplishment all the more meaningful.

It will be nice to see the various strategy posts for visiting enemy capitol cities so you can effectively fish.

For my horde non-stealthers, maybe a suicide run to one of the back canals in SW. Fish quick if still alive. If camped, log and rez early a.m. finish fishing.

Haven't been to SW in forever. Time to dust off my old pally to scout out spots.

Getting into Orgrimmar is pretty easy. The back entrance is always empty and, if I remember correctly, it leads right to the trolls and I believe there is water by them. If not you have to travel deep inside which will be a pain and a few corpse runs.

As for Stormwind, your kinda screwed with the main entrance, however there might be somewhere to sneak in once the docks get built. Once your inside though the fishing is easy, many places you can hide in plain site that just aren't visited much.

The real pvp fishing is going to be Old Ironjaw and Old Crafty. Fishing once in an enemy city is cake compared to fishing for the rare fish. You will probably catch 1,000 fish from doing this alone.

I just caught Old Crafty yesterday in Orgrimmar (as Alliance). Got lucky; only took around 200 catches.

As a druid it was easy to stealth in, but once inside you have two decisions. First:
1. Do I want an easy way in?
2. Do I want an easy place to fish in?

The side entrance is easy to get in to. There are around 8 Horde guards (currently 65, going to 75 tomorrow), but they drop aggro before you get to the fishing spot. The problem with that first spot is that it is where Horde taking a portal from Shattrath are teleported. There's nowhere to hide besides behind the buildings, and that narrow area makes fishing very difficult.

The best spot is in near the PvP masters in the Valley of Honor. There's an outcropping of rocks and a waterfall there, and if you bury yourself in a corner, chug a camo potion, and /sleep, it's unlikely anyone will see you. The problem is getting there, because you need to ride through a lot of Orgrimmar and risk Horde coming out of the builder fresh by the Battlegrounds. Once you're there, however, it's the best place. That's where I fished; the first day I simply fished from behind the waterfall, but I realized people can see you if they look over anyway. The second day I hid in the little crevice in the rocks, and had no problems. I might have just been fooling myself, but I didn't get ganked and fished in peace for half an hour before catching Old Crafty.

Totally worth it. It was the most fun I've had in a while!

You got lucky catching him that fast - I've fished on and off all day waiting for BGs on quite a few toons and have only caught him twice - consider half an hour to be lucky.

OK, so we've got advice on combat fishing in Org - what about Stormwind - anyone got advice/input on where to safely fish?

First question is if you need to be in the Canals district proper, or any water inside Stormwind. You can easily fish in the water off to the side of the drawbridge (just chug a water-walking potion and fish under the drawbridge).

However, the fish you're looking for is in Ironforge. Long story short, no, there's no easy or safe way to fish there. The one good thing is that few people pass through that way EXCEPT if the daily is Crocs in the City (you can fish it up in IF). My advice is to just sit at the edge of the water and fish. If any alliance toons come by, they'll probably be lowbies, and odds are they'll call some friends. Hide yourself in one of the houses nearby, log out, and log back in in half an hour.

I do think Alliance have it a little easier; Valley of Honor is more commonly traversed, but has a better hiding spot. Forlorn Cavern is not commonly walked, but has nowhere to conceal yourself.

As horde I've been down there in IF for quite a while now having to log in and out, getting ganked, etc. I miss the sun. I smell the cooking and the dwarf ales as I'm sitting down there in waist deep sepid water. A sitting duck, at the mercy of whomever walks by. (/QQ)

The good part is that there are quite a few ally that come by to fish, and they do leave me alone. I'll reciprocate in kind when I see alliance trying to fish in Org.

I've noticed that it's the non-fishing ally that gank me - the ones just passing by, not the ones that come to fish. It's almost like there is a code of honor among fisherpeople. lol

Hi-

I did the diplomat fishing quest and it aint easy, buy lots of invisibility and healing potions because u are gonna die alot trying to make it to the fishing spot in origammar, once there, hide by the rocks and start fishing. I also managed to fish up old crufty while i was there too.

Stormwind is a horror to get into - the tunnel leading into it is lined with level 75 elite guards that see invis and inevitably several extremely bored rogues just waiting to pounce on you.

I've always wondered about these people that just sit around all day waiting to gank folks - cant imagine what kind of a brain-dead loser it takes to do that?

No one sits around in town all day waiting for the off chance of ganking someone. People come and gank you because when you aggro a guard there's a convenient message in /3 telling everyone that you're there.

Anyway, I'm dreading having to win the STV fishing contest and having to fish up the raid bosses. The others are relatively easy with time and patience (LOTS of it) but those three will be massive roadblocks for most people.

The STV contest is a nightmare, but Gaz'ranka and Lurker can be fished up solo without much trouble. All you need is someone to party with to get into the instance. That's assuming you're 70, of course.

For Gaz'ranka, you'll need to get the lures from Nat Pagle (the quest to get the lures start on the beach you fish the boss from). Once you have the lure, just fish up 5 mudskunks from the pools in ZG, stuff em in the lure, toss it in and run :p

Lurker's a bit harder to get to, thanks to the psycho fish and boiling water you have to go through to get to him. I have a pally, so all I did was hop into the water, pop a swim speed pot, bubble and laugh my way to the Strange Pool. After that it was a simple matter or fishing him up and bubblehearthing.

You can just run north of Westfall to Stormwind Harbor to get the Stormwind half of The Fishing Diplomat accomplishment. Once you enter the zone, you can pop a water-walking potion, fish, and then leave without encountering a single guard or Alliance player. You'll be flagged for PVP, but in the time it takes to get out of Westfall, it'll have worn off.

No way - the reaction is instant - guards attack and within seconds there are several stealthers on you - I refuse to believe that there just happened to be several rogues/druids/NEs using racial invis all standing around invis at the enterance every time I just happen to decide to stealth into an Ally city.

Since there is an achievement to "kill 50 enemy players inside a home city" I noticed alot of people are patroling the pool in IF now. If you sit there and fish for awhile you'll notice a lvl70 player come riding through and stoping to check the pool about every 2-5 minutes now.

I'm alli main, but if I see a horde fishing in the pool, I just wave and keep fishing. I don't bother them because I know what a pain in the butt is going to be to get these fishing achievements done. I will have to fish in Org eventually and I'm dreading it. I hope there are more mature horde players that see a fisherman as I do.

Unfortunately your fellow allies have made attitudes so bad on Horde side that its going to be pretty rough - have had several times where either peeps have laughed in /g or /yell about nailing a fisherman by the waterfall - I'd berate the ganker and point out that the Ally is just trying to do the fishing quest so leave him alone - without failure I get angry tirades about corpse camping, ganking and all the other fun PvP tricks that Allies do to Horde and this is payback in thier opinion for all the grief that Ally players have inflicted upon these people personally over the years.

Now combine that with the few professional gankers we've got Horde side and...well, good luck. :-/

I've put in probably around 4 hours now; just need two more coins (Jaina and Sylvannas). I've caught Anduin Wrynn about 6 times, archimonde and brann about 3-4 times each. And Landro Longshot (copper coin) around 12 times now.

I think the RNG (random-number generator) has a sick sense of humor. For the longest time I only lacked Arcanist Doan for silver coins. Then I caught one (ding!) and out of the next 5 catches, two more were his coin AGAIN.

At least it's nice catching gold coins; go go lucky buff!

Yeah, I caught between 7-9 of at least 6 different types of copper coin. It was weird though because I got all of my gold coins before the silver or copper.

Was doing the 'Darkness Stirs' quest line last night and upon returning to visit Thrall in Org i noticed no players there.I guess while on this chain you are in an instanced version of the world.I then proceeded to Undercity and joined in the battle to reclaim it,along with maybe 5 other horde players.
It wasnt until id finished it and was waiting for the zep back to tundra that the thought crossed my mind that the alliance cities might be equally player free, thus making it a lot easier to enter and fish for the rare.
My next alt is still 71,but doesnt fish, but i thought i'd mention it here to see if anyone wants to test the theory.

I would assume you are "stuck" in that area, somewhat like going to Caverns of Time and doing Old Hillsbrad. But definetly worth a try!

I had caught all the coins except the gold Arthas one. It took me another hour and a half for that one stupid coin. Oh well, glad that's all done now. The only achievement on this list that I'm going to have a real hard time completing is the STV competition, as I work almost every sunday. =/
