Anyone got any tips for good mining paths? I know there is a good website that gives a few, but I'd appreciate a place that is stuffed with nodes...especially copper :) (( mainly because a complete stack sells for 2g in AH ))

get the gatherer addon, then see if anyone in your guild has it as well and get them to send you all of their marked nodes. this will display them on your map for you. If not, the just cruise around in durotar and the edges of barrens.

Do you know if that addon's on curse.com? And also, I havent discovered Durotar or the barrens, and I'm not sure what level they are. I have a level 30 paladin, so would I be high enough to mine there?

EDIT: (( I think I have actually dowloaded the gatherer addon, but I put it in my addons folder along with some other addons like questhelper and gatherer was the only one that didn't appear in the addons section on my character screen...any ideas?

If I remember correctly, gatherer needs Cartograther to work.
#5 Aug 12 2008 at 7:34 AM Rating: Decent
That would be why it doesn't work then :) Thanks

Durotar doesn't have any monsters above level ten or so. The Barrens is higher level zone, but at level 30 you should not have any problems. If your paladin is a Blood elf than you can freely roam around. If your paladin is one of the Alliance races than be sure to avoid the various Horde towns as they will not tend to appreciate your presence. Although, if you are Alliance and looking for plentiful copper nodes then I would strongly suggest making circuits of Dun Morogh and Loch Modan as copper is really quite abundant there. Not to mention easy access from Ironforge.

Just as a side note, a very similiar question was asked a few weeks ago. It would probably be a good idea to look through a few pages of the forum first before asking since these sorts of questions get asked frequently. This isn't meant to chastise you, but simply to let you know. Good luck and happy mining!

I thought Gatherer was related to Auctioneer.

I don't have Cartographer, and Gatherer works just fine for me.

Vanilla maps is just the maps from original WoW before the burniing crusade, and yet it should work for that too.

Make sure that you have it installed correctly into your interface/addons folder, and then make sure you have it turned on through your character start screen. There is a button in the corner that says addons where you go to turn it on. Also, make sure you have downloaded the mmost recent versions of the addons or they wont work.

It used to. I had Gatherer and the vanilla map for quite a while. I use Chinchilla now, so I have no idea if this has changed :)

Is this your first addon? If so, you need to make sure that you unzipped it to the right location. C:\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons. Unzip to that location. A lot of people get confused as to where to put them, and then WoW won't see them.

Yes I dowloaded them to the right folder and unzipped them as i asked a player in game what i should do. It's not my first addon (i have healassign, omen and questhelper installed too), but it's only gatherer and cartographer that won't work. I think I downloaded the most recent version...anyone tell me what the name of the most recent version is please?

(( I know they're called cartographer and gatherer but isn't there usually a number after them which tells you the version...? ))

Thanks for your help by the way guys!

Have you mined anything since trying to install gatherer. Because gatherer doesnt do anything until you actually mine stuff? the only other thing I can think of is that you dont have the updated version, what are you using to download your addons?
#14 Aug 14 2008 at 6:03 AM Rating: Decent
i've mined pretty much every type of metal that my skill level can mine since installing it, as I run a copper node path almost every day :)

I use curse.com for my addons. Would they provide the updated versions? or is there a better host you'd recommend?

Wowmatrix

It's much easier to download latest revisions, and you can update all addons by pushing one button :) Highly recommended.

There is a gatherer database available on curse as well. http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/10227/

Also I accidently left an addon in its original folder after unzipping it once, so make sure you have the folder opened up to the good stuff.

Your exuberance is refreshing. But please keep in mind that raising a thread from the dead for the sole purpose of saying "Wow this is cool!" is considered bad form. So too, using all caps.

There are some meanies who will even rate your post down for that.

Since this is your first post I will assume your caps key is stuck and you did not notice the date on the post before replying. I hope to see you posting again and I hope even more that your posts make a positive contribution.

Not all addons will show up in your character screen addons section. Can't recall if gatherer does or not. You should however find a button by your minimap and you should see nodes on your main map.

If it's still not working, then make sure you took the gatherer folder OUT of the original zip folder. (In other words the unzip will create a file named gathererversionxxx and inside THAT is the folder you need to put into your addons folder.)

If you haven't found the barrens by lvl 30, I'm assuming you're alliance. (It's a lvl 10-20 horde area.) Run down to Stranglethorn and take the boat to Ratchet, or take the boat from Menethil Harbor to Theramore and make your way through or around Duskwallow swamp to get to the barrens. Or if you're in Ashenvale, there's a road that leads to the barrens from there.

But if all you need is copper, run around Elwyn Forest and then into Westfall.

Gatherer "DOES" show in your addon folder. I had a similar issue with it. What I would suggest is going back into your addon folder and Deleting it out of it. Delete it completely off your computer and re-download to you desktop. Unzip onto your desktop. Then copy/move to addon folder. I unzipped directly into addon and it didnt work. When I did the longer way it worked just fine.

THEN: Go to www.gathereraddon.com and download the database. It will give you every node that has ever been mined. 70% will be blank but TRUST me it will help you a ton. I hope that works!
