skinning turtle scalesFollow

So on my lvl 50 rogue I decided that I wanted to get the wild armor set even though I know it's only a so so armor set since most of the pieces have random enchants on them, it's still kind of nice to have them just incase any of my alts can use them. So I've gotten all the thick leather I'll need...that was a huge pain. Now I found that it'll take me close to a month it seems to get enough turtle scales.

I know that they drop only when skinning turtles, but the drop rate is insanely low. Does anyone know a good place to farm turtle scales? Currenly I'm over in Dustwallow Marsh since the turtles are only lvl 35-38 I think and easy to fly through with my rogue. Still they only drop one or two scales every fifth kill or so. So I'm hoping that someone out there will be able to tell me a good place to farm turtle scales that will be easy for a 50 rogue to just fly through. Thx

I had to get loads of these myself for those same patterns...I think I made one wild leather helm and that was the only time i used them....but it's cool to have them for completions sake ;-)

The sandy beach just north of Theramore Isle is where I spent most of my time because of my character's level at the time. Tanaris to the south, on the coast East of Gadgetzan has a slightly higher drop rate...but meaner turtles :-) It doesn't really take a month, but a couple of hours over a couple of evenings and buying any and all you see from auction/guild mates/friends. Also don't forget...you *could* just buy the ready made items on auction if they're available...quite often people sell items well below what they cost to make so you can get lucky sometimes ;-)

You should try going to either Steemwheedle Port near Tanaris, or even better, head to The Hinterlands. Along the coast where Gammarita is, there are tons of level 49 or 50 turtles who drop two scales per occasionally. Hubby had two leather workers, and I can't tell you how many turtles we've killed, and that was always the best spot to go!

Hope this helps, good luck!

I second the Hinterlands. I went there at 50 and ran up and down the coast and pulled plenty of scales for that quest, not to mention you are getting good XP and the vendor trash sells for a decent amount, and you can AH the turtle meat if you don't cook. The day I farmed that area I even got 3 blues, and a bunch of greens as well.

There are usually several people in the area doing various quests or farming so you may find some spares laying around waiting to be skinned (/rude at those who don't loot their kills!).

I also made a full turtle scale set for a guildie's Shammie alt. The two of use spent about two hours on that coast and managed to get the 80+ scales we needed for the set.

i did the quest on 2 lw'ers. i found for me the best drop rate was the beach in tanaris. took about 4 hours of farming. farther south there are some elite turtles that seem to like to drop 2 at a time.

The best drop rate for the turtle scales are off the turtles south of Pirate Cove in Tanaris. I would occasionally get two per kill. If you have the quest for Cuergo's Gold, head all the way down to Land's End Beach and do that at the same time. Those turtles have the same improved scale drop rate.
