The fun professions are all the crafting professions - Tailoring, Leatherworking, Engineering, Enchanting, Jewelcrafting and Blacksmithing.
Tailoring isn't that good for Hunters unless you want to make your own bags rather than supplying a friend with enough cloth to make you the bag or going to the AH and buying bags.
Leatherworking you can get a Leatherworker to make you the item you want or you can buy it.
Blacksmithing I'm not sure about, but apparently is a waste of time for Hunters.
So I'd say pick any of the following - Engineering, Enchanting or Jewelcrafting.

Where's the Alchemy love, angel?

Fun profession to me would be Engineering. I've never taken it up (always say I am but I don't) but based on what I know, it looks to be the most fun of all.

Engineering is fun, and you might be able to make some decent guns now that BC is out (all the guns pre-BC were horrible). Blacksmithing, and more accurately axesmithing, might be an option, as the new axes are pretty damn fantastic. As in, some of the best if not the best axes in the game.

They're BoP and require axesmithing to use, though, so... Smiley: grin

Personally, i think Alchemy/Engineering would be best for a Hunter, as you can make your own Potions/Elixirs with Alchemy and your own Guns/Scopes with Engineering, atleast that way, your main weapon will be nearly always in top conditioning, and with the extras you can use such as Goblin Jumper Cables, you have the ability to ressurect people, which sure would help in raids/instances.

How expensive/profitable is engineering? I've been skinning/mining for a loooong time now and have considered engineering (for the guns & ammo) but I really don't want to lose my revenue stream, that combo is dynamite for moneymaking.

My brain started to bleed after reading this post.

If you're old enough to play WoW, then you're old enough to express yourself properly.

OK. After painfully interpreting the OP, I've come to the conclusion that the original poster is either deluded or wierd. He wants to do jewelcrafting and its associated gathering profession (mining), but he might do two crafting professions with no gathering professions to back them up. This is especaially true for engineering. If the OP is willing to take mining for jewelcrafting, why isn't he willing to do so for engineering? Where does he think the materials needed for crafting professions comes from?
