Hunter-Blacksmithing or EngineeringFollow

#1 Feb 01 2007 at 10:33 AM Rating: Default
Hi, Im a lvl 30 BE hunter and am currently doing Enchanting and LOVE it.

But, I would like to pickup either Blacksmithing for its weapons and armor, or Engineering for its gadgets and PvP(which I do a lot) possiblities not to mention its guns/bullets and goggles. The problem is that Im still fairly low in lvl and I cannot foresee which I will reap the most benefits, Weapons/Armor that will require BS, or Guns, goggles and gadgets of Eng.

I have read the stickys and looked at all the items that can be made in each profession. I would appericate any imput from experienced Hunters or anyone that can give "Helpful Imput". Thank you a head of time.

As a side note, I have been looking but I cant seem to find which profession makes bows and arrows. Can you enlighten me on this?

Hunters wear leather until level 40, and then mail armor afterwards.

Blacksmithing starts out making mail (useless to a hunter - you can't wear it yet!) and then progresses to plate (again, useless to a hunter, period). So if you want to wear the items you make, don't pick up Blacksmithing.

But let's talk about something else, your financials =)

You like Enchanting, that is great. What is your other primary trade skill right now? You are level 30, in 10 levels you'll need money for a mount (90 Gold). Are you prepared for that, yet? If you pick up Engineering, and keep Enchanting, you'll have to buy all the raw mats for Engineering. Can you afford to do that?

No profession makes bows and arrows. They are all vendor-bought, quest rewards, or drops off mobs.

Well this is not my first toon, so I have LOTS of gold from my main. And have made some decent gold selling enchants and DE matts on AH. I have already foreseen the problem with having to buy matts as apposed to gatthering them. It may get tough towards the latter portion of the profession. I was thinking of BS because of the weapons and being a weapons smith. But, engineering is equally appealing to me, thats why Im curious as to which will serve me better. What do you think?

I am not familiar with blacksmithing weapon recipes, so I can't say really. Engineering would be fun to me but I have heard complaints here and there that Engineering really got neglected/shafted in the expansion.

If I had to choose between Blacksmithing or Engineering, though, I think I would personally go with Engineering.

Yea, I was thinking Engineering would be fun, with all its lil gadgets. It will be tough to choose, if any weapon masters can give some info, please do. Thanks
