I've been running around the various areas trying to find any LW patterns - so far I've turned up Heavy Knotted Leather and Comfortable Insoles, both in Shattrath but nothing anywhere else (loads of tailoring patterns though).

As I may well have missed something on a timer, has anyone else found anything other than the above? I've seen a pattern for Riding Crop on AH, but apparently the vendor is inside a CoT instance.

Check the Leatherworking trainer at your faction's starting town in Hellfire Peninsula (Honor Hold or Thrallmar).

Done that and learned all that was on offer - now looking for the 'bought' patterns, although it seems most require rep.

There's a riding crop vendor in Old Hilsbarad, the rest require rep and g-dawful mats.

Skilling after 350 LW is gonna hurt, trust me on this. I'm already there. Especially since nothing drops heavy knothide; you'll be getting scraps and leather (if you're lucky) off level 72 mobs.

I hit 356 LW last night making a Netherfury (Mag'har rep) belt. I'll hit two more points once my guildie comes up with Primal earths for 2/3 pieces of the Thick Clefthoof Armour (Cenarion Exepdition Rep). The problem at 356 is that just about anything I'm going to get a skill up off of requires more exotic mats. I have the Stylin Adventure Hat pattern (dropped in Old Hillsbrad) and the Riding Crop and don't think I'll ever make either. Also, a boss in slave pens dropped an 8NR armor kit. Thats still green but requires *4* Primal Shadow.

I farmed 60 Motes fo Air to make the belt for 1 skill up. A guildie is farming 80 motes of Earth to get my next two skill ups while I farm up the Thick Clefthoof leather. The exotic mats really make it tough to skill up. I'm not looking forward to the massive number of motes of fire and shadow I need to farm once I hit 375 to make the new DS armour either...

Oh and the riding crop is god awful mats too. :(

i hit this wall too, luckily ill hopefully get 2-3 skill ups for a guildie who wants netherweave pieces.

this is sooooooooooooo gonna suck. i had filled a 16 slot bag of knothide leather and didnt have anything to make for skill ups, so i just turned it all into the heavy knothide. motes either need a slightly better drop rate... 1 in e at least.. or the 70+ mobs or elite should drop the primals.

and i never found any insole recipe.

Sigh - yeah - post 355 is gonna be hell.

Primal shadow is (relatively) cheap on my server, ranging from 1-2g a pop - half makes me want to farm where ever nature armor kit pattern drops (slave pens I'm told) just for a few easier skill ups.

The Stylin Purple Hat is another option for relatively cheap skilling - that should stay yellow till at least 360 or 365 and for the cost of the mats for everything else, might just be worth while to run it as a green.

Correct. I don't recall which boss dropped it, but it was definitely in Slave Pens. However, I never bothered making them. There was plenty of straight leather or leather plus felscale patterns that gave skill ups while that did. Sort of defeats the purpose of farming for it as its been gray for a long while now at 357.
