Dis-enchanting (whoops!)Follow

I took Enchanting not to do enchants but to disenchant and sell the essences/shards etc. To my horror I've just discovered that my skill is no longer high enough to disenchant the stuff I'm finding! I also do herbalism and really don't want to be an Enchanter so now what!? :-/

yeah thats the whole Point of Enchanting, You Use the Ess, Shards, dust you get From D/E And you Enchant stuff to get levels To D/E More stuff and do the samething over until your are maxed out. Unlike Blacksmithing, Alchemy, Chanting Does not Have A Gathering Skill. The Only way to Get stuff For Enchanting Levels Is Disenchanting. So YOu Should D/e And Enchant until a high enough level to D/E Alot of Things. Enchanting Makes Alot Of Cash =D Good Luck

if you really want to drop enchanting you can do so by hitting k (skills) -> going to enchanting -> clicking the circle with a line through it to drop it.

Bliz changed this a few patches back. You now need a set minimum skill to disenchant a given item that increases with the item's level. I'm not with Bliz so I'm not sure, but I think they did this to combat exactly what you (and I) were doing. If you level enchanting to 225 you'll be able to disenchant anything. Just disenchanting will get you up to 50 I believe.

Do you have to go up to 300 to DE higher than 60 items?
#8 Feb 02 2007 at 6:44 AM Rating: Decent
You have to be at skill 225 for level 60-65 items and 250 for level 65-70.

Odd how it jumps from 225 to 275. I would figure a steady 25 skill point increase.

To lvl more quicker (other then waiting for the stuff to drop) scan AH for cheap greens for DE and again use the stuff to lvl, only problem is (if its an alt) you need to be lvl 35 minimum before getting 225+ (right?) and i dont think lvlling alts is that thing you wanna do when you have TBC

Anyway lvlling enchanting is not difficult but expensive (or dusts/shards etc consuming, which you can sell otherwise) unless you do it right.

This is what i did:
-I scanned the AH for cheep buy-out greens (used an add-on).
-Send all the the drops (from other chars) to enchanter
-Checked AH for dusts/shards etc prices
-Sold the most popular dusts/shards etc (i learned that popularity is different from time to time)
-Used the other (leftovers) for lvlling
-last but not least: check recipes, many enchanters dont bother to check for most recipes which are actually cheap to buy and nice to lvl your enchanting. Just check which mats are needed to create it and if little mats are needed to enchant then use it.

I recommend to keep enchanting, in the higher range its still very profitable.
