    2x Fel Lotus
    5x Unidentified Plant Parts

All together it took me about 8 hours. It could more than likely be done much faster as i was using druid travel form all the time (normal flight form when permitted). Im interested how far this would get you through alchemy, but i dont have a toon available to learn alchemy upto 375. I might try and sell all the herbs as an alchemy starter kit :D

No. Not yet. There's still a lot of work to be done on this before it's done.

    1) MOST IMPORTANT! - I need input on what the new outland plants are.
    2) ALSO IMPORTANT! - I need to put in the new zones.
    3) it's not finished yet. let me play with it a while. I'd like to add links to maps, as well as add plant levels. I need to finish doing the URLs.
    4) we already have two stickies. Chances of getting another are very low. Chances are that I'll end up submitting this as a guide (for the guides section)

here is what i know about the x-pac herbs thus far...

i skipped picking herbs in hellfire mostly because i hated the zone. i did find a small amount of felweed, some mountain silversage, dreamfoil, golden sansam and a small amount of dreaming glory.

zangarmarsh is where i maxed out my herb skill. here there is an abundance of felweed, dreaming glory, ragveil and some flamecap spawns as well. there is also some dreamfoil, blindweed and golden sansam to be found. a really nice addition here is that you can also perform herbalism on the nature elemental mobs in this area, doing this i have found ancient lichen, terocone, felweed, ragveil and dreaming glory.
you will also see lots of glowcap mushrooms show up on your minimap. these can be gathered by anyone and are handed in to increase sporeggar reputation.

terokkar forest is where i am now and there is a lot of terocone to be found there, a decent amount of felweed and a few dreaming glory spawns as well.

aside from being able to perform herbalism on the corpses of certain mobs, there have been some other new additions that make herbalism fun.
    * picking dreaming glory gives you a 15 minute buff that regenerates health when you pick it.
    * flame cap is a consumable herb in itself (not soulbound) that deals fire damage to attackers as well as raising your fire damage for 1 minute. from what i can understand this is a rare spawn where other herbs are usually found.
    * fel blossom is a rare drop from fel lotus. it is a bind on pickup consumable that absorbs 750 to 1250 damage and lasts 15 seconds
*fel lotus (the new black lotus) is a rare drop from herbs in the outland. i found one in a felweed but apparently it can drop from any of the new herbs. don't be fooled because it isn't green, i predict that once there is a demand for flasks these will become valuable.
*quite often you will also pick up motes of life from herbs and mobs that you perform herbalism on - 10 motes of life are turned into a primal life which is then used as a crafting material in many professions.

my tips for herb leveling in the outland is to stick to zangarmarsh. i leveled there almost exclusively from 315-390 (tauren +15) the first day i had the expansion. the easiest way if you want to avoid mobs is to make a trip around the outside edge of the area. there are plenty of herbs along the edge, this way you will find a nice supply of dreaming glory that spawns on the sides of cliffs and rocky areas.

Just a note - Glowcap Mushrooms are indeed mushrooms, but the item name is just Glowcap. And technically these are not herbs, as anyone can pick them, and they aren't used in any recipes. But herbalists will see them on the minimap when tracking herbs.

Also, as mentioned by mangymage, Flame Cap is found in Zangarmarsh (don't know about other zones) and gives a nice buff especially for fire spell casters.

One thing you may want to add...I did not see any herbs for instances. Usually this is a great way to get higher level herbs at lower levels.

    ie:

    WC - Earthroot, Kingsblood, Liferoot

    BFD - Stranglekelp

    RFK - Fadeleaf, Briarthorn

    SM - Fadeleaf, Goldthorn

RFD - good spot for Grave moss, Arthas' Tears, Goldthorn

Mara - great place for Ghost Mushrooms, Stranglekelp, Blindweed

I'm sure I'm missing many. I have no idea what the higher level instances have in them. I know of only one other spot for Ghost Mushrooms and that is Skull Rock in the Hinterlands, but a Mara run can yield plenty.

One more idea: The elemental mobs in Southern Tanaris can drop different herbs. I have received Goldthorn and a Ghost Mushroom off of them.

I might do something like that after I get the maps and URLs for uses done. I was not planning on putting instances in this guide. Ancient Lichen, which is only found inside instances, has changed my mind.

No on this one. Too many mobs drop too many different herbs. The list would take up too much room and make the guide unreadable. It's long enough as it is.

Yeah I checked that. But I think that is a flaw in the WoWreader -- Glowcap doesn't drop off mobs and those mobs aren't in Nagrand, anyway. It may mark them as being in Nagrand because a player engaged the mob while standing just inside Nagrand's border.

Although, I suppose with those tiny droprates, it's possible for Glowcap to drop off those mobs, and I just haven't seen it.

It could be a result of a kite & fight situation, but I wasn't there...

    Nice thread.

One note though..I forget the name of the mob but in North East Zangramarsh there is a mob that you can kill for Sporegor rep. After they die, herbalists can "skin" them and get herbs. I know that I got some terocone off of them along with other herbs and various greys.

    Very nice thread.

    A few comments:
    - I thought the effect of Bloodthistle was "blood elf only"? (confirmed here: http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=22710&locale=enUS;source=live)
    - there are quite a lot of Arthas' Tears nodes in RFD
    - some items seem suspect. For example I have never seen Dreamfoil, Golden Sansam, Icecap or Mountain Silversage in Alterac Mountains
    - it could be nice so say which areas are particularly nice for certains herbs. For example you can't take 3 steps in Swamps of Sorrows without stumbling on Blindweed. Arathi is one of the best places for Fadeleaf, Hinterlands for Sungrass, etc.

Not confirmed. I'll go with what it says in the item description itself until I get several confirmations that it works on Blood Elves only. Let's get a magic user over there that belongs to a different race to confirm.

    Quote:

I know there are. For the most part, I left instances out of the guide. They probably wouldn't be in at all, if it wasn't for Ancient Lichen (which in general can only be found in instances, except as drops).

    Quote:

You are absolutely correct. I'll correct the listing for Altarac. Thanks for the find.

Different people find different things. A lot depends on who's farming and how often the plants are plucked. On my last trip to Winterspring, there was a lot of Icecap, something I'd never seen before. Usually a trip there only gets me 3 or 4, not 15. It might be possible that the Icecap farmers decided to go farm plants in The Outlands, or that I hit a spawn at the right time. I can only tell people where they are. How many is so variable that it can't really be predicted.

Again, thanks for this guide, it's a really amazing resource, especially the lists of quests or recipes.

    - on the topic of Bloodthistle, I am about 90% sure that they don't work on other races because I've been to Silvermoon with my druid, picked some, and realised they were "worthless". But I can try again.
    - Wildvine can also be found in Purple Lotus nodes, so it should probably be listed everywhere PL is listed. Likewise Swiftthistle can also be found with Mageroyal.
    - for the list of areas, I don't want to be a killjoy but... http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/professions/herbalism.html
    - re: my last comment, it was more motivated by the fact that e.g. Purple Lotus is listed in say, Ashenvale, Hinterlands and STV. However to my knowledge there is only one node of PL in Ashenvale, maybe 5-6 in STV, and too many to count in Hinterlands. Another aspect is that many areas have Grave Moss, but if I want to find it quickly and in reasonable amounts, I go to Desolace. That kind of stuff.

If you prefer to use The official list, you may. I'm not stopping you. My list is based on finds that have been reported using WoWreader.

STV is my favorite grind zone for purple lotus. It's found outside most of the troll compounds, and spawns fairly quickly, not just 5 or 6 locations. I've only found 2 purple lotuses in Ashenvale, both at different spots (on the road btw Maestra's Post and Blackfathom Deep, and the other in Satyrnaar), but after looking at the map, I counted 9 locations where it's been found there. I suspect that the find rate would probably be higher than shown on the map, but most herbalists are too low in level when they go to Ashenvale and by the time they are high enough to pick it, have already abandoned the area. I've only found a few in the Hinterlands.

I tend to agree with you on Gravemoss. It's pretty well concentrated in the Kodo Graveyard and is easy to find. But, it's not the only place it can be found.
