Professions for an Orc Hunter Alt?Follow

#1 Jan 20 2007 at 2:54 PM Rating: Decent
I'm starting an Orc hunter for BC. Trying to decide best profession path...
1- Mining and Engineering (to make guns, scopes, and bullets)
2- Skinning and Leatherworking (to make leather armor for myself and to sell)

One of my concerns is bag space. My current (Warrior 46) is an Herb/Alch and between fish, potions, and herbs, I have 2 of my bags full. Seeing as I already lose a bag spot for my bullets, I don't want a skill that requires me to carry a bunch of components around.

I also am unsure of the profittability of each profession. I make a lot of cash at AH selling potions, which makes up for hassle of Herb/Alch.

I would appreciate any imput from someone who has experience in these areas.

Thanks

my favorite (for hunter only) is skinning/leatherworking. mining (and herbalism) interferes with the hunters tracking abilities. Skinning does not. You aren't going to make a whole lot of gold from leatherworking, but at least you'll be able to enhance your own armor with armor kits. Sell the leather to make money until you get a rarer recipe for LW.

Why are you carrying all the components? Make the potions you need, and carry a few stacks of those. keep everything else in the bank. You'd be surprised at how much space that clears.

Most professions make more money selling the mats than in the final product. I make marginally more from stonescale oil than from the raw eels (on my server there is only a 75S difference, but it used to sell for double - go figure.), but that's about it. Check the AH prices for the raw herbs vs the potions you can create from them - choose the option that brings in the most gold.
