Rule number 1 : Don't throw away gray items, sell them.
Rule number 2 : Buy BIG bags to stock items before selling.
Rule number 3 : Don't buy stuff on the AH for yourself, get quest rewards.
Rule number 4 : Get 2 gathering professions and sell on the AH
When my rogue hit 60 he had 400 gold in the bank AFTER having bought his epic mount.

You have to be mage to do that but its a good way to lvl and make gold. Aoe grinding make exp like mad and killing ~10 mobs at a time give a lot of silver,c loth when you kill humanoid and a lot of grey item. In 45 lvl i got more gold with my mage then i have ever had with my 60 rogue.

I had a thousand gold by L40. If you figure out what to do and spend time doing it, you can too.
It all started when I saw someone's screen shot and it showed they had 850 gold. I thought to myself, "that's a lot of gold. I wonder if I can do the same thing." Kinda made it a hobby at that point.
