Hey all,

I have a 'bank' character (lvl 6) that my small guild uses and I have been d/eing <25 lvl items to get rid of them and be able to give low lvl chants to the lowbies.

Now all was fine until I reached 50/75 enchanting skil and decided to start d/eing lvl 25-30 items. When i go to d/e these items I get a Red statement across the middle of my screen "Your enchanting skill is not high enough to disenchant that."

So I sent in a ticket and the response was "That function is currently working properly."

The one other thing I did to try and fix this is, I renamed my WTF, Cache and Interface folders and restarted WoW. All it did was reset EVERYTHING and didnt fix the problem (obviously).

Has anyone had this happen to them? I read the patch notes and I should be fine to d/e up to lvl 30 items with my skill level. Does my character level affect the d/e lvl now since I am only lvl 6?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

[edit] I'm not really sure about your situation, actually. I had a response here but I misread your post. I would personally report it as a bug on the Worldofwarcraft.com Bug forum.

That just outlines my problem unfortunately...

I have the required skill level for the item I'm trying to disenchant (lvl 26) my skill being 52/75 atm. Thats whats ******** with me. Im really tired right now but Im sure skill level is all that is needed. And therefore as a lvl 6 I should be able to eventually disenchant up to a level 35 item (reaching 75/75 enchanting skill).

BTW thanks for the fast reply.

EDIT: Just read your edit :) see what i mean lol. Thanks anyhow^^

Have you looked at the bottom line of blue-coloured text on the tool tip when you hover over items during disenchant? It tells you what level of enchanting you need to disenchant that item. I have cosmos installed, so maybe it's only showing because of that. But anyway, from my experience, lots of level 15-20 items I've seen require 50+ enchanting.

I havent payed too much attention to the tooltip, if its there. I've been having troubles with old content seeming to install with my new cosmos and so some tooltips work and some dont.

I just reinstalled all addons and deleted those folders I mentioned above before work to get a fresh start. I'll check for that tool tip when I get home, Thanks.

Can someone point me to (or explain) the maximum DE level at a given character level/enchanting skill?

I guess, in particular, I'd like to know what a 19/150 can DE.

Here is the breakdown of enchanting skill versus item level. Scroll down a little to see the chart.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/professions/enchanting.html

Therefore at 19/150 skill lvl you can d/e up to a item lvl of 20!

Make sure to note a few posts back from me regarding ITEM level opposed to the level required to wear the item.

Hope this helps.

The referenced link would imply that, at 19/150, I could D/E an item "Level 45-50"

This character has crafted (leather) Hillman's Shoulders, req. level 21, item level 26 -- and has D/E this item, as well.

I'll just go out and buy some 40-45 level gear and try to D/E, I guess.

To be able to d/e item levels 40-45 your skill in Enchanting would need to be 150/150. By the time you reach 150 however, you will probably have increased your skill cap which can be done at 125/150 by an Artisan enchanter, I believe. At this point your skill cap will be 225 then then to go beyond 225 you need the Master Enchanter to bring you to the pre-TBC cap of 300.

Again therefore, you will only be able to d/e item lvls 1-20 while your Enchanting skill is at 19(current skill level) / 150(maximum skill level).

Sorry - I wasn't clear. I made up some notation without explaining...

When I say "19/150" I mean "character level 19, enchanting skill 150". The skill cap for the character is also 150.

So what I've learned is that the ability to D/E is based solely on the current level of enchanting skill, and that at skill=150, one can D/E items up to level 45-50.

Before patch 2,01 an enchanter could DE any level item. Now there are level limitations. Result : higher prices on the AH...

Blizzard changed the way that you can Disenchant things. It is now based off of you enchanting skill, just like if you were to go mine a node. Basically all you have to do is level your enchanting skill and your fine.

I think 20+ item require 75 skill or higher to D/E.
