Fishing "hot" spot - oily blackmouthFollow

#1 Jan 01 2007 at 5:07 PM Rating: Decent
Have come back to the game after several months absence. I notice that you can now encounter "schools" of certain fish. Are there any lists around (if it's even possible) of likely areas to catch certain types of fish, or is it all dependent on your level, etc. or more random factors, such as the presence of a school where you are fishing. Reason I ask -- need to make some underwater breathing potions and am growing old trying to catch oily blackmouth. Any tips?

It is somewhat random, and you can still get fish without hitting pools. I find that riding a mount along the beach is the fastest way to find them. I would try STV, wetlands and winterfall, I fished a lot, but not for some time.

The southern shore of Hillsbrad Foothills has a ridiculous amount of Blackmouth and Firefin schools.

Tons in the barrens. Start just north of ratchet then just head south down the shoreline all the way to dustwallow marsh and you'll find tons of pools on the way. It should net you about 2 stacks, some old crates and some stranglekelp(Both fished up and in the water itself if you have herbalism). It safe fishing too if you aren't high level. When I rolled a fresh character on a different server than my original I snuck over still in the low teens for a ton of cash(Well, a ton for a untwinked level 13 or whatever anyway).

If you're alliance, the coastline of Darkshore has a lot of oily blackmouth schools, as does the coastline of the Wetlands.

Youll find that Wetlands has tons to offer at lvls 21-25!Just walk the shore east of marentill harbor, kill some murlocks and cook there tangy clam meat for cooking lvls while your at it!Oilys an firefin spawn everywhere on this coastline. In fact,I came to this forum today to find out what there for lol cause i have so many of them.

For horde side I found pretty much the same spawn rate at ashenvalle I think its called, the town you can take boat to from marentill harbour, low lvl mobs and plenty of fish.Good luck!

Get thee to Booty Bay with a Gold by the fishing Book "Expert Fishing, the Bass and You". Swim from Westfall if you have to( I made the swim at level 23, but I stayed close to shore in shallow water. Yes, a dumb Blonde way to do it, but I I got the book, lots of Strange Kelp and a Parrot once I got to Boot Bay). The book will pay for itself in no time. FireFin Snapper sell quick in the acution house if you put a good price, don't be greedy. I got 2 gold for 40 fish in 2 hours.

The Expert Book raises you to a level where you will suddenly find you can catch the "money fish", FireFin Snapper, Oily Blackmouth.

Book of Warcraft has a concise fishing info page that tells what fish are caught in what zone and what use they have in cooking and alchemy. There are also links to useful fishing addons. Its a good resource.
