See how the auction house prices are doing on alliance as well as horde sides. See how the prices are moving over time. And ofcourse make some gold using the data. Otherwise whats the fun :-)

The site seems to be a great exercize in coding, but somewhat impractical. I'll assumt that the website owner is using Auctioneer, and parsing out Auctioneer.lua to get the information.

There are over 150 US servers and a similar number for Europe. Actually, more than that, but 300 is a nice round number.

It takes a bit of time to scan all the auction houses on a server. On my realm, Alliance = 17 minutes, Horde = 12 minutes, and Neutral = 3 minutes. Let's round that off, be optimistic and say 30 minutes per realm to scan all AHs.

One person scanning would take 150 hours to do every AH, and would need multiple accounts, because 900 toons would be necessary for the scanning.

Howsabout this. Set up an FTP site and have people upload their Auctioneer.lua files for you to parse? Run your database parser once an hour against every file in a copy of your FTP folder. If it's fast enough, you should be able to maintain a fairly good set of data. I don't know how many volunteers you would get, but it's better than trying to do it by yourself.
