The answer to your question is somewhere in the allakhazam sight, just look.

Ok, so if you can't take the time to look at fishing related threads and guides, then I guess I can spend the time to tell you what you want to know.

I personnally make money on fishing for stonescale eels, which is probably the most valuable fish in the game. Other people fish for oily blackmouths and firefin snappers. Others still fish for deviates and winter squid. All of these fish, I would say are the main moneymakers.

I would advise not selling all your winter squid durring the winter though, since anyone can fish for them in the winter. They give a nice buff (can't remember at the moment) when they are grilled by a cook. From what I remember, the buff greatly benefits rogues (probably agility or something of that magnitude).

Stonescale eels, firefin snappers, and oily blackmouths are used in alchemy. First they are turned into oils then used in various different potions. For instance the oily blackmouths are used in swift swim pots and underwater breathing pots. My advice is to take up alchemy, that way you can turn these fish into a more valuable comodity.

Deviates are popular because they shapeshift your character. I can't say first hand, but I once heard that they have a valuable use in BG's when you are stunned or frozen (I think). I guess shapeshifting negates these effects?

You will most likely get a large number of weighted fish of varying weights. Some are equipable so you can take a screen shot of your toon holding the catch of the day, but they have absolutely no use from what I can fathom. If someone has found a use for them, I want to know about it.

Hope I answered your question, and if anything I said sounds fishy, I challenge you to look up counter points in the allakhazam database.

What fish and where you catch them depend greatly on your race and level.

Alliance:

Night elves get a jump on everyone else, since they are only a botride away from Darkshore, where Oily Blackmouths can be caught. A low-level night elf (around L5) can get fishing skill and a pole in Darnassus, and head to Darkshore for money fish immediately.

Humans, Dwarves and Gnomes will find their initial fishing grounds in Menethil Harbor. To get there early in their career, they will have to make the run from Ironforge through Loch Modan and the Wetlands to Menethil Harbor. They should be prepared to rez themselves a few times. In Menethil Harbor, there are a few pools of fish and even a debris pool, so fishing is a bit better. The catch at Menethil Harbor is Firefin Snapper and Oily Blackmouth. For adventurous elves, Menethil Harbor can be reached by boat from Auberdeen.

Horde:

Horde characters will need to go to the barrens and fish the Oases there for Deviate Fish. Alternatively, the can head for Ratchet and fish the coast for Oily Blackmouth.

Both Factions:

Go to Gadgetzan as early as possible, after getting your fishing skill to 225. Withthat amount of skill (plus lures), you can start fishing at Wavestrider Beach and Steamwheedle Port for Stonescale Eels. You can also catch the seasonal fish there (Winter Squid and Summer Bass), although I've never found them to be worth much compared to Firefin, Oilies, and the Eels.

After you get into the 50's, you can start fishing in Azhara, where there are elemental pools that have catches that bring in the bucks.
