LW is an ok profession, the problem with it is it usually levels faster than u do, which means youll be skinning med or light leather, and u need thick leather for you recipes, so u have to buy the mats, or spend an incredible amount of time farming skins, and coverting them. if you really want to make gold, pick 2 gathering professions, like herbalism and mining as an example.

Hmm i'm a leatherworker 2 at lvl 200.

I can make some blue items, like Barbaric Bracers i sell them for 5G at AH. last weekend i created 6 of them so its easy to make money with leahterworking but only blue items are selling good.

How can having your profession level in front of you be a problem? Eventually your character arrives at the spot, where he'll skin the right leather.

And LW allows you to upgrade your leather like no other profession does, though the ratio doesn't make it too effective.

I don't find many crafting profesions to be very profitable, unless you get the right recipe/plans/blueprints/etc. Most items you make in almost every production profession have a limited demand. Most people who make money off of the crafting professions find a niche, and work that. For example, a lot of LWs make armor kits, which sell regularly. Rugged armor kits are used for Darkmoon Faire rep & turn-ins, so they are in constant demand and can be quite profitable. Tailors can make money off of rare patterns, or some make money by making bags and putting them on the AH. Blacksmiths often find themselves in a dilemma. By going to armorsmithing, they limit themselves to the people who can wear the armor they make, while in some servers, weaponsmiths are more common, causing a greater number of smiths to compete against.

I recommend two gathering professions to most people while they level, and they then have the luxury of saving their money. When you get higher in level, you can decide if you want to stay with gathering, or go into the production professions- especially if you find a nice rare recipe. Some peo0ple keep the recipes rather than sell them on the auction house. Then, once they've made some money and leveled to a higher level (where money tends to come in more easily anyway), they'll level the craft based on the recipe they found, and make their money back by making & selling that item.

Anyone know a good place to farm rugged leather?

Oh and if you have a enchanter friend you can make wicked leather headbands and other high level items have him disenchant it and sell the items from that for alot of gold. My friend do that and they have made about 600g in total from that.

My LW has been very good to me financially, especially once I got into DS LW. But this is the best way to level and bring in the cash at the same time. I craft tons of stuff just to send directly to my enchanting alt, where he D/E's them and sells the mats. CRRRAAAAAAZZZY Money that way.

...

Ok, so I'm exaggerating. But the gold isn't bad, especially since LW takes a lot of time creating duplicate items anyway, which don't sell that well except for the barbaric items and the scale mail.

Oh, and to answer your original question, any place 50+... My favorite place is to go to the un'goro and kill me dinos all day long. true, you'll get a lot of thick as well, but I convert them as soon as I get a full stack.

I agree with this :D Definitely go for the yetis in Winterspring as they're humanoids so not only can you skin rugged leather, they also drop coin which adds up after awhile.

I have not been playing WOW that long, only level 40 druid, so I do not have other professions to compare this too, but it seems like there are some iteams that make a lot of money. Toughened Leather Gloves Sell for around 5 g, hevey leather ammo pouch and quiver sell for over 1 g and the armor kits sell good too. And my LW level is less than 200.

im a lvl 160+ in leatherworking and I am making blue items and they sell awesome. The earthen shoulderpads are cheap and easy to make. also i cna sell for a large profit. I spent 1g on some extra materials and i just pick up mats when i do quests, and i can make about 5-10 of any piece of armor.

when i made them and sold them i made about 8 of them and sold them for around 75s-1g each which is pretty good considering im a lvl 17 hunter. I cant even wear the armor i make because its too high of a lvl. But the armor I am wearing is the best I can get and it was pretty much free.

if anyone wants some free lvl 05-25 leather armor, just msg me. I have a lot of mats saved up from quests and raids but i may require a few that would only cost you a few silver each. you can wear it or sell it, i just want my lvl in leatherworking to get better. then i can make my best armor that i can wear and then switch to a new profession.
