/light bulb appears over head...now I understand. :) I'm glad you explained the time scale. I was wondering why the two charts didn't seem to match. I set my bar chart up using text cells like '8-9' and '9-10' instead of numeric or time values. Excel just took the series in order. Keep up the good work and the rate-ups will keep coming. Thanks again for doing this.

I will be sure to start fishing at those times not previously fished durring. From my notes, it looks like I need to focus on areas such as 20:00 to 20:45, and 22:00 to 22:30.

Also on that graph I took the greatest value for eels caught, with more data gathered I'll be sure to take an average of those data values.

interesting read. i went to fish the bay of storms about a week ago (during the day) caught i think 2-3 eels, 0 squid, and 1 elemental node. i did find the hydra though. one severe butt whoopin later i gave up fishing for the day. my question is did you catch any type of "junk" boxes there? and if so with any frequency? iddie

I did catch quite a few sea chests, mostly Iron and reinforced iron chests, sent them to my rogue (who's lock picking isn't high enough yet), and they're just sitting in his bags at the moment.

I haven't kept track of the frequency of them dropping, and I don't exactly remember how many I have, but from the hours I spent fishing, I probably got around 6-8 chests I think.

The place where I stand seems to be pretty safe from the hydra and the sea giants, but perhaps its because I'm lvl 55 and don't quite reach into their aggro radius. What level are you playing, perhaps you're a bit too little and the hydra smells your blood from a mile away.

try going to that island with the cave on it that faces the Azshara shore, and walk along the left side of the island (left while facing the big blue ocean). Walk only so far until the area changes to Hetara's Clutch (I probably didn't spell that right, but i think you know what Im talking about), then stop immediately. If you followed my previous directions, you might have walked a little bit farther, because from where I usually fish, I have nearly soiled myself before as I watch that hydra swim around just out of aggro range.

In response to one of your earlier posts about the enchant for the rod, i think it maybe the Reel that you can get, cant remember the name of it, but i've seen something about it, i think it adds +25 or something similar.

Other than that i'd like to say Well done for having the Focus to do such a tedious task, i mean personally, i think fishing is one of, if not THE best moneymaking trade in the game, but usually i cannot find myself doing any more than 30 mins to one hour per go.

Also, another place i've noted to catch Stonescale is on the Eastern side of STV, where Gorelash (47 Elite) spawns, and there maybe some just off the island to the East to with the Level 50 Elite King Kong wannabe.

I regret to inform you guys that I probably won't have the opportunity to fish for as long hours, or as late as I was able to last weekend, the wife's coming home from her trip early and she'll be home tomorrow night (which means i need to stay up all day after work tonight in order to get the appartment looking livable before she gets home). I'll be sure to get some data for those gaps and update the appropriate charts.

Hi, nice work ;)

I have 2 questions though:

1, You are fishing up to 7 Eels / 5 minutes ?? i mean thats a droprate of up to 70% even if I take 0 Eels as lowest result in 5 min, I get an average of 35% which means, on average every third fish you catch is an Eel.

I was fishing in that bay and had droprates of 7%-8%

2, I thought fishing skill only helps you on avoiding "the fish got away" thingie - not the quality of the fish.

Nice work. I have looked at alot of info on this subject, and thought I knew the perfect time to fish for eels. However every time I see the info and try to only fish at those times that seems best my wife blows all your stats out of the water.

She fishes in the middle of the day at random times, at night when ever she has time. And while during certain hours she averages 20-25 (some times a little more) stonescale an hour, the worse she does is averaging 12-15 an hour. So either she is very lucky or the drop rate in the off hours is not nearly as bad as people seem to think it is.

Huh, that's interesting Vallok. I assume that she fishes in the same general area as I have been? If so I'll have to try checking out some daytime rates.

By the way guys, sorry about not updating this lately, but since the wife got home I haven't been able to play hardly at all, she's always on the computer playing her account, and since we only have one box as of now, and since I'm a good husband, you guys are the ones to suffer without the data.

I'm going to pick up my conroe chip next week sometime, so that pile of sparkly computer parts under my desk will soon be my new system and I'll be able to play anytime when the wife wants to play, yay for me!

There is one other + to fishing skill, which i'm sure is what Royzy and the op are both thinking of. It's fishing line from the tournament which is one time use and permanently applies +5 skill to your rod.

Very interesting thread indeed. You have made a lot of effort.

I thopught I'd add my own statistics to this thread. This is a one-time shot for fishing the pools (only) from Northern Wavestrider Beach to the southernmost point in Land's End Beach in Tanaris. The round trip took an hour and 22 minutes. The only fighting was in Land's End Beach, where the pools are guarded by L48/49 Turtles and L48/49 Elite Sea Giants. About 1/3 of the total take was from Land's End, so if you decide to bypass that, expect a reduction.
