Q: How to skillup mining 130+ as lv 35 horde?Follow

Recently my mining skills have ground to a halt @130-ish whereas my other skills are rocketing past 225...

No smelting skills can give me skillups, and the only thing I can mine for skillup atm is iron... which is pretty uncommon where I go (I seem to come across a lot of mithril and gold veins right now that I can't mine ><)

Is this a common problem, or can I find loads of iron anywhere (it doesn't sell at all in the AH, so I guess it's pretty common) that I haven't looked? I was hoping i could avoid going into the heavies PvP/alliance-infected areas for this too, any chance?

Thanks, I know I have to go into contested areas.. just trying to avoid the most popular warzones if possible ;)
I'll check out Arathi cause STV is waay to crowded with alliance daytime.

Some one else said it, but I would also suggest Desolace. It's a large area that really doesn't have that many alliance running around (on my sever at least) In fact I was there grinding for like 2 hours and saw NO ONE. It was weird. Desolace has alot of Iron drops, some mithiril and silver as well.

But Arathi is also nice, the only problem that I have found is that because of the near 24/7 battles going on at TM the lag spills over and makes it a pain in the *** to play out.

There's a pretty good mining guide at http://wowvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Guides.Detail&id=58 that lists zones where veins are located. It even lists where to find special ores, and what kind of gems are found in each vein. Unfortunately, it doesn't tell you where the best places are to mine each ore, but it is useful nonetheless.
