I am a noob, please help with alchemy/engineeringFollow

#1 Apr 22 2005 at 10:45 PM Rating: Decent
As i have already stated i am a noob and proud of it, because it is what i am and i find shame is a waste of time. All i am asking is wether it will be unproductive for my 2 primary proffesions to be alchemy/engineering. I realize that these professions cost a lot of gold, but i figured i could easily sell potions to help with my engineering funds. should i drop one of them for their favored mining of elements proffesions? and can i have herbalism or mining as a secondary profession and still be productive with my time? Thank you to all who are willing to help a noob in need.

you cant have herblaw or mining as secondary proffesions...
and, as a skilled engineer, you dont make much money

Hate to say it; you COULD make money with alchemy by selling potions, but the ingrediants will often times cost more than the final product. Drop either alchemy for mining, or engineering for herbalism.

Do that, and then make an alt with the other; send whatever cool things you make to each other. Everyone wins!

Herbs cost far more than potions, and engineers don't make all that much money, although the profession adds incredible utility...Honestly, neither Alchemy nor Engineering will make you much money in the long run, but they both will help you and your groupmates a great deal. As LockeColeMA said, drop one of them for the other's gathering profession.

Ok now listen. Alchemy and Engineering? These are your professions?......

/postgank

Now that I have knocked some sense into you listen. Alchemists need herbs in order to make potions. Drop your engineering for Herbalism, turn Finds Herbs on, and collect herbs. Then use said herbs to create potions only have you have bought some vials from Alchemist Suppliers in towns. Then either use them or give them away or sell them or whatever. This profession isnt a money-maker but it does help in the long run.

OR.......................

Engineers need ores and gems to work. Drop Alchemy for mining, and go mining for ores. Every once in a while you will find a gem inside that ore, which you will save and use later. Engineers use ores and gems to make bombs, robots, etc. So mining is useful. Not a big money-maker, but can get you a little profit, plus you can create neat little robots. ROBOTS 4tw!

These are a list of the professions, and their needed counterpart.

Herbalism/Alchemist
Mining/Blacksmith
Mining/Engineer
Skinner/Tailor
Tailor/Enchanter

....I believe the data for the 4th and the 5th ones are mistated. If so, please post and correct it as I forgot it.

Me, I am a Herbalist/Alchemist. People will really like Alchemist for their ability to transmute metals later on in their career.
Ok my wisdom has been passed. Sorry for the /postgank....felt it was necessary.
