Maraudon portal thingFollow

Hi,

I have the item that allows me to create a portal to middle Maraudon. Have two questions actually:

- can the rest of the party walk in with me even if they don't have it?
- can it be used several times? maybe there's a cooldown timer on it (how long?)?

I do not know how this got into the Tradeskills forum... But, the Staff that teleports you into the instance is used by yourself. So, each of you has to have the staff to do the Princess Runs.

I don't think that is right. Two people in my group, who had not completed the portal quest, managed to come through with a third guy who had the rod.

The 3rd poster is right. Only one person is needed to create the portal with the rod, so the others don't have to have it. If it was changed after the last patch then I could be wrong, but otherwise I'm 100% sure that only one person is needed to have the rod to create the portal.

Yes, you can use it several times and the cooldown is very short (30 secs to 1 minute I think).

Thanks guys, it's clear now; thought so myself since the descripton of the staff says 'opens a portal for you and your group' but okay, wanted to be sure.

Once again sorry for writing this in the wrong forum.

Just to confirm again, since there's misinformation above, only one person needs to have the staff. The portal remains open for a good 30-60 seconds. The cooldown expires before the portal disappears. However, if you enter the portal, and it closes, group members who have not yet entered the portal are likely SOL.

Also, you can only enter a portal that a group member of yours has opened, or you yourself have opened. And, if you are unware, you can only open the portal on a small pedestal behind the First Khan. Entering the portal "Drops" you over the waterfall behind the boss area where you created the staff in the first place. Long fall, and no way to go back and do the first bit of Mauradon.

Lastly, there is some bug related to the entance. Two guildmates of mine consistently die when they hit the water below. No idea why, everyone else always lives.... they hate it though, always needing a res on entry.

This happens to me quite often; it's not a bug, it's a result of a sub-par computer. The computer doesn't register them hitting the water, thus they hit the bottom at full speed-- instant death. If your group has a priest, it helps to have them shield people before they go through. Fall damage is based on the character's total hit points and doesn't exceed your max HP; a shield absorbs some of that damage, allowing the character to live.

Also note that when you use the staff to enter Inner Mauradon, you're consigning yourself to never wiping. If the group dies and there's no way to rez, you have to have everyone enter either purple or orange, come back out, regather around the person with the staff, and portal back in. Big hairy deal, even if multiple people have staves.
