Jumper cables questionFollow

I think i am missing something here with how to use these.
I built some and have an Eng skill of 240
Here is what i do........
Click on them in my backpack so they jump to my characters equipment slot. I then click on them there and get a gauntlet icon which i use to click on my dead party members body.
It comes up with a bar that says defibrillating which allow to fill. But then nothing else happens.
What am i doing wrong? I have tried 4 times so far with no success.
Do the people not have to have released to spirit form or something?

I am new to the game, but I am pretty sure that in order for someone to be rezzed, they can't have released their spirit yet. If they release spirit, they can't be rezzed.

I don't have solid evidence but I'm pretty sure that you can rez with them even if the person releases (recalling my last instance of them working I'm not 100% sure the person released, but I'm 99% sure). The jumper cables don't work very often so they're more of a last resort attempt at rezing.

As for the way you're doing it, you're using them exactly as you're supposed to. They generally work for me perhaps once every 6-10 tries (and explode just as often ugh).

So far, my success-rate on the jumper cables has been 2/4.
However, I was in a group a few weeks ago where a guy tried his jumper cables out for the first time...it blew up on him first try! lmao...he was so excited to use them. I think he seriously cried! lol

Nope. You can resurrect someone after they have released.

To the OP... Did they explode on you? Also the person has to accept the resurrection. Do you know if they even got the option? My experience has been that they work less than 25% of the time.

As cool as Jumper Cables are, my overall experience with them has been aweful. In 20 or so attempts, I've been successful twice (and had them explode on me once). Also, I've never had them work inside of an instance.

Hopefully, it's just bad luck on my part.

My friend-engineer tried about 15 times these things on me, but only about 3-5 times worked =/ Yes, you can be rezzed in the instance. And yes again, you can be rezzed after releasing the spirit.

I had this same problem, and as being on lvl 40 as when i got to make it, i thought it would be a good idea to have as t would be my first trinket, but i was wrong very wrong, and they did not work so i got rid of them and worked on my engineer for better trinkets, now i have gnome net gun and gnome strink ray. ^.^

Is it possible that the jumper cables results improve with better engineering skill?

I'm a priest so I haven't made these, no use to really. My friend is a hunter and is looking at going down this path so in the even of a total party wipe he can feign and try to ressurect someone who can ressurect.

you cannot revive with cables if they have released spirit.

you have to be patient with the cables, they will blow up almost every use when you first get started. i dont know if success goes up with your engineering skill or with how many times you use the cables, but it will get better, and they will rarely explode after that. i use them constantly on my warlock and they havent blown up in very long time now. on positive side, them blowing up isnt all that bad, because it ALWAYS saves the fused wiring, which is the only real effort getting regeant, rest is very easy for any mid lvl or higher char. on another positive note, you dont need anvil to make cables, so if they explode on you, and you have regeants to make them(will save wire so dont have to carry it), you can make new pair right in the field! it also resets the timer! if they blow up on revive, you can remake them right then and try again!

the cables have rare explode rate when it gets better, but they still fail almost everytime. if you dont know, you should remember that it isnt always work or explode, they will ussualy fail and NOT explode. you will have to ask person or wait a second to see if they actualy worked, if they didnt explode. always carry around set of iron bars/shadowgem/silk/giz's to remake your cables in field if they decide to blow up, it doesnt require anvil like other devices.

You -can- revive somebody who has released spirit.
The difference is that you use the jumper cable first (without having a target selected), then you click the blue-outlined pointer at the corpse.

If they have not released their spirit, then you can target their corpse and it will be locked in the target window. You can then use the jumper cable without selecting the target manually.

The only difference when somebody releases is you have to select the target after using the item.

Has anyone else's cables explode on them and give you the ruined jumper cables item, but the trinket was still on and useable?

I was told (reliable) they can NOT be used if you release. However, normal rezzing works as the person posted just above me so I think I'll have him retry like that.

You don't have to carry everything to make a second set if you just carry a second set- not sure if you can try second set if first fails.

Playing a priest with my brothers hunter the cables are great for wipes. Ya- they don't always work but sometimes they do and it makes life easier. He has only had them explide twice I think and he's rezzed me much more than that- about 50/50 with success/failure (non-exploding).

Oh, and I wanted to add to the thread that I saw in AH the other day an improved set of cables with like 280 (I think) skill required. So for the people who asked for that- you got it.

I've made the Jumper Cables XL as well as the normal lower level cables. This is how it seems to me. I've had numerous cables explode, luckily you get most your parts back, but they never really worked. The only times they worked are when the person doesnt release and even then its iffy. But the XL cables seem to work a little more often and they dont explode nearly enough. I'm slightly more satisfied with the XL when it comes down to it. And hey, even if they don't work, I'm a Tauren Warrior and anytime that big oaf can bring soemone back from the dead is worth while expierence.

The weirdest thing happened to me yesterday... My brother and I jumped off a cliff, and he ended up dying at the bottom. (Silly Priests...) Anyway, I pulled out my cables and used them on him, and they exploded. Only they didn't really explode. I took some damage, and it told me I'd created a ruined jumper cables, but it didn't tell me I'd gotten them. I was also frozen in the trying to jumper animation.

It told my brother that I'd created a ruined jumper cables, and it gave them to him. Then I hit escape cancelling out of the frozen animation, and noticed the cables were still equipped and available for use. He had released by this point, but I tried again. This time, they worked and he came back to life.

Then I looked in my inventory, and found that in addition to the equipped jumper cables I also had a ruined one. And my brother had a ruined one. So I ended up with a fused wiring, 7 iron bars, 4 shadowgems, a set of jumper cables and a rezzed priest. Smiley: yikes

Yes the jumper cables have (had?) a bug where when they explode now they aren't destroyed and you end up with both a working set of jumpers (that you can promptly use again) and a ruined set of jumpers.

Jumper cables DO work on people after they release.
