Fishing! Where am I going wrong?Follow

#1 Apr 06 2005 at 4:02 AM Rating: Decent
Greetings all

I am very new to World of Warcraft so please excuse my ignorance in asking what is probably a pretty obvious question!

I thought I would train up fishing as a useful secondry skill. I am currently at 225 and I know I cannot get any higher until my Rogue reaches Level 40.

It is no surprise to me that I am only catching fish at the moment. I was under the impression that very occasionally I might fish up a box, a weapon or something else perhaps - but no! I have tried fishing at some of the "drop spots", like Lake Everstill etc!

So, can any experienced Fishermen out there please give me a few pointers.

Other than a Fishing Rod - what else should I be using?

Can anyone recommend any good spots?

I would appreciate any help!

Cheers

Where you fish also effects what you catch. Usually the higher lvl the area (mobs) = the better the 'random' stuff you may find.

In addition to Rods, you can use lures to increase your fishing skill for a short time. These are usefull more at lever levels of fishing skill. Still not to be scoffed at though.

Happy angling.

In response to that part, basically they removed almost all the items you can fish up a long time ago because there were people using some sort of bots to auto-fish and make a ton of money.

I've only rarely fished up potions or crates with a couple leather in them...

Currently fishing is only good for a few things:
1. Alchemy, because there are a few fish alchemists want.
2. Cooking, there are some nice food buffs you can get with high level cooked fish.
3. Pets, you can feed the fish to your pet.
4. Friends, giving cooked fish to lowbies is always nice. :)

Like the other poster said, they've greatly reduced the chances of fishing up anything but fish. That said, Menethil Harbor in the wetlands is where I have fished up the most crates, boxes and bottles. Pretty rare but a nice surprise although it's never been anything exciting except the message in a bottle from some deranged castaway who belives the bananas are out to get him.... :>

I recently fished up that same note about the bananas. That was HILARIOUS!

I mailed it to a friend stating to read it and pass it along, adding your name to the bottom of the mail each time. It's too funny of a note for people to not read just because they don't fish :)

Best ATHF quote ever.

I have only caught a few crates, and both have been from Ratchet.
