Engineering to 245 - level requirementsFollow

#1 Mar 21 2005 at 12:47 PM Rating: Good
Can somebody tell me the level requirements for reaching engineering that gets me to 245 skill points? My character is currently 26th level and has 205 Engineering skill points. And I am DESPERATE to be able to equip that Green Lense of the Eagle (245 req.)

I got to Gadgetzan (I swam down the coast and then ran like hell) to speak to the Master Engineer trainer, but he offered me no training -- either because of my current character level or my current Engineering skill level.

If you know the exact requirements, I would love to have this info.

Step one. go out and grind out 14 levels (make sure to get lots of iron and stone). Step Two when you are level 40 return to gadgetzan and the trainer will be glad to charge you a few gold to become a master engineering and that will remove the skill cap of 225 allowing you to pile a bunch of mith and solid stone in to stuff to level engeneering, the bullets work great for getting though the long streches.
Side note WoW 26 and at 205.......is that char a alt? did someone buy the materials to get you that high in it? or are you just that exelent that you manage to mine stuff way out of you level class? even if you progress is funded by someone else(or a main) it is impressive.

This character is not an alt but the main character. However, I DID spend a lot of time improving my engineering, mainly because I am in love with the high level headgear (especially great for gnomish warlocks).

And doing it -- yes, it is expensive. I took mining to support my "habit" and collected most of my own materials and sold stacks at the auction house. I found, however, that the best way to pump the stats is to make parts (blasting powders, gadgets, frameworks, struts) and sell these to vendors to recoup most of my costs. Making complicated items that require gems and lots of different components seems like a MAJOR financial burn. Why make goggles or a silver shotgun when you can get that ENG point by making a simple bomb or a bronze framework cheap?

I ALMOST ALWAYS leveled my engineering using the cheapest mats available. I could not have afforded to get to 205 making mostly complex items.

However, I also sold about a dozen Deadly Blunderbusses, five or so silver shotguns and a few goggles at the AH. While these did NOT make a profit, the helped offset the costs.

So, overall, I am disappointed. It seems then that I will have to be level 40 before I can attain 245 in Engineering. I was hoping for more like 35.

well I am verry impressed I dumped some rate ups on ya for getting that far but look on the bright side, ya dont need to pay for a mount so you can power level to 40 without the headach of Mount Money Issues, keep it up i was 45 before i coudl affrod to unlock mining and engeenering(I had the skill just not the money)
wish i could make the levels come early... but you are doing great..

I've heard several times that it is 35. I don't mean to question you on this, but are you sure it's 40? I'm almost 35 and was just about to make a run out to Gadget.

Also I found getting to 240 in engineering to be extremely easy. If you spend the time to go out and mine copper and tin you'll be able to get there in no time. I hit 165 at lvl 14 (was great having a Mech squirrel at lvl 11 that was higher lvl than me) and hit 238 at lvl 24. I just became a gnomish engineer as of level 33, and was really looking forward to the 241+ engineering :( (but not the cost!!!)

Let me ask you this. Why the *&^% is it that every single item that is even remotely cool requires that you be an engineer? I mean, engineering is great but we can't hardly make anything that ANYONE else will ever use!!??!!

Wait a sec, I thought professions were skill capped based on your characters level.

150 cap for lvl 1-19
225 cap for lvl 1-39

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I stopped my blacksmithing at 150 on my warrior (lvl 16) because I thought it was capped. But, if it turns out there isn't a cap based on level, then I'm going to go to the trainer tonight! :P

Yes, you are COMPLETELY wrong. I, too, heard this myth about lvl 40. It is false. The lvl requirement for engineering artisan is 35. I am lvl 38, and have 300 engineering. I had 225 from 23 to 35. You get the picture. My mining is also artisan lvl, 247. I am not SURE that mining even takes lvl 35, but it might. I believe, in fact, that the only thing that DOES take 40 is the SECONDARY trade skills, cooking fishing and first aide. Although I may be wrong on that one, as these are the only 5 trade skills I have so far. Well, my 8th lvl warrior has 75 blacksmithing and enchanting, but I need 10 before I can up those :)

Primary professions:
75 cap for lvl 1-9
150 cap for lvl 1-19
225 cap for lvl 1-34

Secondary professions:
75 cap for lvl 1-9
150 cap for lvl 1-19
225 cap for lvl 1-39

Is the above info correct?

That's weird that they would make the lvl 225 cap different for primary and secondary.

My main character is Knard. He is also an engineer.

I cannot get my level past 225 either but... im not sure why.
I recieved my goblin engineer membership card from Nixx Sprocketspring in gadgetzan. Am I right thinking that he is the trainer that can raise me to master level? I have bought 6 schemata from him already but he doesnt offer a level boost.

Any info would be apreciated... I cant find a link anywhere to give me the specifics of how to attain my master level.

Thanks XD

The dude you need IS in gadgetzan, but is NOT that Nix dude. It is someone else. I BELIEVE he is outside, maybe? Either way, talk to the dude in Orgrimmar (if you are horde), the LAST one you got stuff from. He should tell you the name of the dude you need. Also, IF I remember correctly, the dude has a word balloon mouse icon, not the standard book icon for trainers.
