Skinning and Mining Combo?Follow

#1 Mar 18 2005 at 3:27 PM Rating: Decent
I recently gave up engineering for skinning, while keeping my other skill of mining. I was wondering if anyone else has done this and had success or failure. I made about 20-25 Gold in two days off of drops and selling stacks of Leather, Bars, and random drops <in Desolace>. Anyway, I am liking it this far and figure i can get an engineer to craft me bullets to up my damage. Anyone have any thoughts/comments/stories to help me out? I would appriciate it greatly.

Keep it up...it makes you money and lets me get stuff at the WH way way way cheaper, when I started their were no gathers on my server and next to no trade goods were avaiable at the AH. The gatherers on my server make for a real supply and demand economy, most folks that have both a trade and a gathering skill use most of what they pick, mine, skin for either themselves or their guild and generaly only when folks need money for mounts do they sell their goods, With gatherers I can actualy make a scope and sell it for a tiny profit. 2 mo ago I couldnt not make any money using my tade skills alone(I had to mine materials, to actualy trun a profit, and I would have made more if I just sold the ore than I did of a scope. Initaly dule gathers took a shot in the side as the cost of tradegoods droped, but it didnt keep up for ever, for example a stack of mith sold for 8g in january and today i can get the same stack for about 4 G, but it hasent gone down since. But keep it up, you make the economy go round :).

G is correct. With so many people either initially picking up or switching to two gathering professions, prices in the AH are starting to fall, at least on my server. If more people like you continue with this line of thinking, then fabricated items will begin to gain more worth as resource availability skyrockets and fabricated goods become less common.

Balance in all things.

Now that I have skinning over 250 and mining over 175 < can finally get those mithril deposits> I have realized this is a great thing in my guild. I will sell my leather and bars either on AH or to a guild member and make money very quickly. Also it helps production within the guild. Everyone knows if they need leather bars or sometimes gems, to buy from me. (Sorry guys I would give a biger discount but I do need my mount ^_^;;) My guild is very good about sharing. I have an agreement with one of our enchanters where I give him all the Mageweave I find and I can get free enchants, but I usually buy materials. Anyway I suggest to others to set up a balance like this within your guild. This will prevent everyone from becoming producers and everyone supplyign raw materials. Working together, my guild has made everyone able to get much better equipment. ^_^ hpoe this helps someone
