Cheers

For iron, I swept through both the Thousand needles area as well as the Shimmering flats along the edge. If there are other good places, someone let us both know =)

sometimes the questions you guys ask out there, makes me think you don't even play the game.

i'm not even a miner and i've come upon these veins of ore during regular levelling up or questing. it should be even easier for you with your ore locator on your minimap.

in general, you will find the higher-level ore in the higher-level zones. mine, level, mine, level, and you'll start seeing them since many quests or areas with concentrated monsters are right next to ore locations. if you just try to mine these other ore all in the lowbie zones, you won't find them.

I felt the same way with my original character. However, remember this phrase: "A watched pot never boils." Same goes with the minimap. When you're looking for vains to mine, they never seem to appear. I run into that a lot myself.

go check out the Alterac Mountains, specifically where the Ogres reside. You will find an abundance of iron and mithril ore there.

I just keep going to Darkshire, there is always a few iron veins there.

On another note let me ask everyone a question.

I have Mining/Enchanting My mining is 166. I can now smelt steel, and I can mine gold. But in all the time I have been playing(lvl 34 NE Hunter) I can not find any more gold veins. I found 1 in Darkshire, but i was 4 points low and I have never seen it there again. Could someone clue me in on where to find some, Also, 1 more thing. What is the mining skill needed for mithril, mitrhil is the next in line after steel right? If not what is next in line and what is the requirement for that. Thanks guys

I believe I needed 230 in smithing for mithril, and 250 for thorium. South Darkshire does have some iron veins that are easy for a level 30 or so to get, regardless of the mobs nearby.

One of the bigger issues that a gatherer/crafter runs into IMHO, is focusing on the gathering or crafting rather than just playing/leveling. My miner/blacksmith hit level 40, and I ran over to the artisan trainer for quests, and quickly found I was too low on my skill, so I had to gather ore. I focused on that, and found it frustrating as well, trying to find regular veins. I finally realised that I wasn't going to live o die on when I became a certain level or crafting skill, and to just continue playing. I gather ore regularly while doing quests and killing mobs, and things are going just fine. :)

Since you need to be a certain level to reach various levels of crafting anyway, this is an obvious choice. Focusing on one area to the exclusion of others only hurts you down the road. Such a dueling all the time before you have a level 60, but that's just me.

225 for mithril.

There is a cave in Hillsbrad, near Southshore, that has 2-3 gold/mithril spawns. Not very good for consistent gold, but there seems to be something there every time I pass by. I've also seen a gold vein near Mannoroc Coven in Desolace, and in a cave in a centaur camp in STV. They seem to be more common in "indoor" cave areas than out in the open, and even so are still quite rare.

I have trouble finding mines when I'm not looking for them, as I'm a hunter and I rarely have my mineral radar on. Were I a warrior, paladin, shaman, etc, I'd have no troubles with that. I'm pretty far behind in my smithing as a result. :(

One of the best mines I have found is in Arathi Highlands. Just NE of Hammerfall the Horde city. Lots of troggs and they spawn fast but I lvl'd mining alot on there. There are always mining points up. Iron, Mithril, Gold, and Lesser Bloodstone Ore. On the far east side of the map is where it is. Up in the mountains. The path up is behind the only tree in the area.

Mining Mithril is actually considerably lower than what you guys have listed here. It was either 175 or 185, and i'm 95% sure it was 185, when I could actually mine Mithril.

You're right 185 for mithril, it's probably 225 for truesilver or something like that, since I'm at 206 mining and I can smelt mithril.

Thelsamar (or however ya spell it) Tin and Copper
Badlands - Iron, Silver, Gold , Mithril (on occasions Truesilver)
Un'goro (or however ya spell it) - Ooze Covered Thorium, Small Thorium, and Rich Thorium

I got to 300 in less then 4 days after unlearning leatherworking and Skinning.

In thousand needles where the wyvrens live there is bountiful ore there plus its a SWEET spot to just sit and grind and even a level 32 up a ridge for when you get bored with the normal ones. I am a level 29 hunter.
