Rouge + Druid = Well Read This *mini rant*Follow

#1 Feb 26 2005 at 10:21 PM Rating: Default
Hiya all: I didnt know where I wanted to put this so I put it here. It is worthy for all to read.

I am a druid and I hate Rouges with a sweet passion. Why? Cause they like to kill me often. But here is my situation, I was dueling a rough 2 levels higher then me the other day and for some reason I just couldnt win. I faced him 3 time already when he started insulting me in general talk saying how I suck and I was a disgrace to druids and how I should even quit the game. (lil harsh) So I faced him for a 4th and final time. This time I let out all the stops. Roots, spamming moon and starfire, roots, then potion and potion. The sad news is he still won, i got resisted and stuned and i lost after a lengethy battle. At this point he laughed at me more to the point i wanted to log off, telling me I am a cheater and how i need roots and potions to live. And other crap like that.

Now here is my question for everyone:

Rouges call druids cheaters for rooting right? Then WTF do you call invis???? Comeone cheating! you sneak up behind someone stun them for 10 secs while you kick the crap out of them. A rouge ALWAYS gets the first cheap shot hit. Oh lets not even forget they actually have an abilty called cheapshot.

And us druids are cheap? and cheat?

You tell me.

Rant over :(

Not to be a *****, but what is this doing in the tradeskill forum?

Anyway, the guy is full of it. A druid not rooting in a duel is like a mage not polymorphing. Did you use nature's grasp to get range? And moonfire to get the DoT cranking so he can't invis? (don't spam it unless you want your mana to be at a sliver left after 20 seconds)

What build are you using? What build is the Rogue using? Does the build between you two gives either side significant advantage over the other?

I know nothing about spec'ing a Druid since I don't play Druid. But I do know that certain builds as Rogues are great for taking down light armor and bad vs heavy armors. My point is that the Rogue might spec his char to have extra advantage over Druid.

That rogue you dealt with is an a-hole. Still you need to evaluate your build and strategy.

As a rouge, I say what ever you have in your bag of tricks is fair game he is just afraid that oneday your skills will improve and he will do nothing more the die by your hands. "Are actions are only bound by the life we once lived" undead proverb

Sorry to nit pick, but this post doesn't belong in the trade skill forum. Try general next time. =)

About the situation with the Rogue, don't let him get to you. I'm not very talented at PvP, because of that all I can do is fight and be a gracious participant. If he razes you about your skill put him on ignore and go about your business.

Surely you hate "that" Rogue with a passion.
A Rogue is a "dirty" fighter...so he'll use all the tricks he can to take you down.
If he wants to slag you off for using your tricks..add him to ignore and walk off.
It sounds like this particular person would be a pain in the **** regardless of what class he played.

btw I'm a Rogue (main alt) and if I was fighting you I'd expect every dirty trick in the book thrown my way, and using potions..they're there to be used...use them and stay alive, you can bet I would be doing exactly that.

Ignore the idiot and move on!!

Ok, as a druid, rogues are a total PItA (pain in the ***)

What you have to do, is start off with natures grasp, and switch into bear form -- Since they will be going for their big attack, bear is the best way to absorb the damage.

Follow this with bear tanking for a bit, and when your health drops low enough, pop out, heal, and cast faerie fire and moonfire.

Time your healing well, and keep em at a distance, thats all the advice I can give.

The only advice I can give u is to put him on the silent list (social settings) or raise your lvl to 60 and kick his ***.

BTW I hate rogues too

Granted its not a tradeskill question but this is how you deal with a rogue as a druid.
#1 Cast faerie fire... he wont be able to vanish or stealth.
#2 Hit a nature's grasp... if you are of lvl to have the talent.
#3 Cast Moonfire... By this time he should have laid into a bit cast a regrowth or major heal depending on the damage taken.
#4 Shapeshift into bear and procede to whoop him.

Now this is only one way of dealing with rogues, they are easily beaten by higher lvl druids if and I say IF you see them first. If you dont see them first you still have a 50-60% chance of winning. Besides this kind of way you can also root/rot him, with this in mind, nothing gets a rogue more pissed than when he hasnt done 1 hp of damage to you and he is on a corpse retrieval.

Being a Rogue myself a Druid is easy in PvP if I get the jump, if not and I get hit by Fearie Fire I am screwed..

And one thing when I still remember it, can you please post levels when you cry about getting killed in a duel?
How can people help you if they dont know what level, talent etc.

So lets see how we beat a Rogue..
A Rogue is a melee attacker, in a duel a Rogue will always hit you first.
They open with CS (cheapshot 2-3 combo point) then SS (Sinister Strike, now up to 3-4 combo point) and now they either do CB (coldblood if they have the talent) Eviscerate og get one more SS, let your Stun break and hit CB and try to Evis you..
Getting out of this is hard, the thing you need to do is to make sure you have enough HP to survive, Stam/int gear is your friend as a Druid..
Now, the Rogue (at higher level with the most common build) can hit Blind, Vanish, Preperation and CS you again, repeat, and your dead..
If he do this, ask for a rematch right after when he got no skills left..

If you dont die, Root them either with spell or Talent (Nature Grasp)
Run away, Fearie Fire, and heal up..
When he is comming for you hit some nuke and change to bear form..
Bear has good HP boots + armor, while a Rogue will take you on the DPS now you can go back and heal spam more nuke..
The only healing ability a Rogue have is First aid, so if you keep a dot at them while you go out of bear form you should be fine..

Oooh, and one last thing, Potion is duel is cheat.. If you agree to use potion at the start of the duel, ok, but most people dont waste a Potion each duel in a friendly fight..

rogues are fairly easy to duel, as a druid. i'm 38th level and i rarely lose to rogues my level. restoration spec, here is the strategy i use...

if i want to be cheap, when duel countdown starts i cast regrowth on myself (heal and DoT).. i've got 3k mana so it's no big loss.. if it's a rogue i fight i put faerie fire on them so they can't go invis, if they go invis before then i put rejuv on myself.. always dot heal yourself.. then go into bear form and hop around.

it sounds cheap but it works, and then use roar or whatever to lower their attack, and save your bash until you are low on health. when you get low then bash/stun then, go back into druid form and heal yourself (i use nature's swiftness so it's instant), then renew dots etc and either go back into bear and fight more (remember, bear is your best friend because of armor) or moonfire ftw.

just remember to watch your health, and your mana, and sprinkle some moonfire in between, and keep faerie fire on them.

Please dont flame this is just personal experience:

Ive found that fighting druids outside can be very unfair vs a rogue . Im lvl 55 and all a 54 druid needs to do is spam that root spell and i can NEVER move, only way to avoid this is to vanish, or to keep the druid stunned the whole fight. If the druid did not have that perma root he would be a cake walk vs a rogue. I know its not technically permanent , but i was rerooted multiple times over and over again where i never was able to move and the druid juss kept DoT and blasting me and i had to sit there and /sigh ... guess stun rogue is way to go.

Exactly!

I've never EVER had a problem taking down cocky rogues. I am lev 37 and with MOTW have ~3400 mana. Before a duel I make sure I have MOTW and thorns on. Thorns is a pain for rogues with their swift hit rate.

1. Faerie Fire - no stealth stuff
2. Root em
3. Rejuv yourself or use a heavy silk bandage (my fave)
4. Starfire them once or twice
5. hit your nature's grasp once they approach you - they'll get 1 or 2 hits before they're rooted again
6. self heal if necessary but most likely starfire them like no tomorrow. Renew the faerie fire if necessary but always keep it on them.

Poisons are never an issue because you just take them off with your spell.

I don't even bother with bear form because I can usually keep them far enough away that my spells destroy them.
