Has anyone pulled up anything other than fish? I'm up to 150 skill and enroute to Booty Bay for the fishing manual but I've been nagged by doubts that anything other than fish might get caught on my hook. None of my friends fish so I couldn't ask them and have turned to you good people instead.
Has anyone reeled in a bauble or weapon or any other item since the nerf a while back?

Yes actually. I was fishing south of Desolace in Feralas and pulled up a couple of items. One was a locked strongbox that had a nice 40 SP weapon and I pulled up a potion as well. I fished for about 30 minutes. Pulled up a lot of strange fish too.

In Feralas, while doing the quest to uncap fishing 225->300, I fished up a 14-slot bag 
There are some pretty interesting items I've caught, but I've pretty much given up on fishing unless it's to raise my cooking skill. Grinding gives you better loot anyways.

I have capped my Fishing at 75 and need to unlock my cap now that I am level 10. As for fishing up any items besides fish, no. Most likely b/c I have only fished in lower level areas such as Iceflow Lake and Echo Isles as my Orc Warrior.

I fished up a nice pair of mail gloves from the pond adjacent to the Blacksmith in Thunder Bluff when my skill was still < 20. Nothing exciting since then, but it gave me a bit of hope!
I fished up a mana potion. =)

I was in Moonglade with my 40 Druid yesterday, 230 fishing. I caught nightfin, salmon, eels, and a major healing potion.
In Feathermoon Stronghold I caught a 40 pound grouper, clams that gave me 3 pearls, and some blackmouth and firefin.
Thats about it.

Having done quite a bit of fishing over the last ten days I've pulled up various unusual fish as well as:
- several mana potions
- many healing potions (minor and lesser, with one or two regular)
- a fortitude potion
- chest with silver and some armor
- message in a bottle with a stat-boost scroll
- clams with pearls
- a few low grade uncommon items
There's some nice spots to be found, for low grade fishing to boost fishery and cooking skills you can for example stand inside the Astranaar inn and fish in the adjacent lake (thus gaining rest time while fishing). Going to the Veiled Sea (from the south end of the Zoram Strand) allows fishing without interruptions and yielded a good balance of Firefin, items and more common fish.
