The few places I found tin as a young horde where by the 3 "pools" or ponds of water in the mid to north of the barrens. Stonelaton mnts had some tin as well. 1000 needles has tin ore scattered throughout the zone.

I think silver is a rare "tin ore spawn" so it cannot be consistantly found.

Got 2 silvers, 1 from a chest just south of Bloodhoof village, the little camp for the darves. And other one from looting a Venture Co. in their mine.

silver is just one of those minerals that you sont find till higher areas but tin i have found a lot especially in the barrens. Its not as common as copper but you can find a decent amount. Silver is a mineral that i have had trouble finding for a while. i find iron more often than silver and iron is a more advanced mineral.

As far as I can tell, mining the heck out of everything for 47 levels, the precious metals, Silver, Gold and Truesilver, have a small chance to spawn in the same location that a normal mineral of that level would normally spawn.
Copper -- No precious metal
Tin -- Silver
Iron -- Gold
Mithril -- Truesilver
Thorium -- I don't think there is anything but I am only 47 and have mined very little Thorium as of yet.

While we're on the subject, I am to the point where mining tin and copper dont give me any skill ups at all. Im ready for iron (I am alliance) and I have no clue where to go. Anyone have any alliance hotspots for iron they know of? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Mining and its many evils...

1) It's very addicting, because it's fun.

2) Tiers of mining are TIED to level brackets.

Newbie lands = Copper only
Lv10-20 = Copper and Tin (Silver)
Lv20-30 = Tin (Silver ) and Iron (Gold )
Lv30-50 = Iron (Gold) and Mithril (Truesilver)
Lv40-60 = Mithril(Truesilver) and Thorium (Rich Thorium)

If you can't find the next step of material... level up and "POOF" you'll be tripping over the element you need. Given an infinite supply of copper and tin you can get to 125 skill in a couple of hours. The Iron is usually better guarded and requires some battle to reach. Mithril and truesilver are common as DIRT in the level 40+ zones.

Remember the sickening amount of competition you had over copper veins? Thorium is the opposite. You're not gonna have 1000 other artisan Level miners competing against you in Un-Goro Crater for the same node. You have to fight much harder to get to that ore.

Iron ore... Duskwood along the mountains. Check the Ogre mounds and the werewolf caves (Lv 24 to 31). Redridge along the mountains ( Lv 24+ orcs ). Alternate spots are the Badlands for Iron and Mithril (Lv 35 to 45 beasts). Also, check mines and instances. Level 30+ instances should have Iron. Level 40+ Instances have Mithril.

Go NE of the crossroads to the dry hills where a bunch on harpies live. Me and a friend found copper and tin veins and one silver vein there. Just circle around the edge of the mountin and repeat as often as you like. There is also a chest out there that I got a gold bar out of.

I have found ALOT ALOT of IRON in arati Highlands norht of wetlands, easy to get, usually dont have to fight with mobs to get it. also i have found silver in redridge mountains, but i think silver is very rare mineral beause i see a silver 1 in a million. So forget about silver and start mining iron, unless you need silver for some item.

without having tried mining, only herbalism and skinning, it just seems to me that the other gathering skills would work along a similar path. like this person said, try the other zones as you levelled up.

i did see a silver vein today though, while hunting humanoids/treasure chests in some caves where i know a lot of tin appears. so now this thread helps explain why.

I've been doing mining runs in 1000 needles lately. It's technically contested, but easy enough for alliance to avoid the horde npcs if you're on a PVE server. On weeknights I've been able to mine almost non-stop, averaging per-trip 80-100 copper ore, 60-80 tin ore, 10-20 iron ore, and up to 3 silver veins one trip, though usually just one. The copper veins also give a good amount of gems, I often come back with a couple of tigerseye which sell for a good amount at the alliance AH. I haven't seen any gold deposits despite their supposedly being the rare version of iron, but it may be that the level of the area determines the percentage of rare resource spawns, or that there simply wasn't enough iron for me to have seen a gold.

The place absolutely sucks on a weekend though. It took me twice as long on a Friday night as on a Tuesday night to fill my bags, because while the points will reappear before you finish a lap around the zone, they won't reappear fast enough if someone else is there mining as well.

Directly above lakeshire (NOrth) there is a cave and in the cave it tends to have copper, silver, and tin and good amounts of it also.

If you looking for iron/gold in particular in thousand needles then hit the gryphon ledge which is on the southern edge of thousand needles. There is tons of iron up there and a rare Elite spawn every once in awhile at the very top to boot.
