Warlock tradeskill - Engeneer?Follow

#1 Jan 29 2005 at 10:58 AM Rating: Decent
Hello everyone, I currently made a Warlock and was looking into the different tradeskill combinations. Being a Gnome, I thought engeneering would be good and apparently mining is a good 2nd choice to complement it. I have a 36 mage with skinning/tailor and a priest with enchanting/mining (Although he is level 10 and might change that around because im not sure if it be the right combination).

Would engeneer be good for a warlock? What 2nd skill complements it best? Gnomish or Goblin? Would alchemy/herb be good for the potions? Should I change my priest profession to something other than mining?

Thanks

I dunno about Enginneer, but i have no clue what it is. My Warlock does Tailoring/enchanting, seeing as cloth was the only thing that warlocks can wear, i thought tailoring was the best option and well i choose enchanting to get all the goody buffs for your armor.

engineers make one of the best head pieces in the game (eng only though) might want tailor/engineer or miner/engineer.

im a lvl 24 warlock with 225 eng (i think). Eng isnt very handy for warlocks at low lvls but yes the goggles you can make at high lvls are awsome for warlocks (wearing cloth armor) as far as i know there isnt a head gear warlock can wear at my lvl and being able to make the goggles is super cool.

The gnome cloaking device and goblin jumper cables are cool little trinkets :)

Target dummyies arent bad in worse case situations when you get jumped.

eng is easy to lvl though.

You don't see many of them, but Warlocks can benefit quite a bit from Gnome Engineering. Other casters as well in fact. All the headgear and stuff you get, plus the net-o-matic thing to stop enemies in place while you pummel them with spells.

Goblin Engineering is unnecessary, however, as you won't really need the explosives.

I'm a warlock with engineering and i don't regret it at all. Engineering has tons of trinkets and stuff that only engineers can use. Engineering adds a bit more fun to the game, get yourself a shrink ray and you'll know exactly what I mean.

I took up Engineering pretty late with my Warlock, gave up Tailoring 225+ to take it. I basically felt that tailoring had nothing to offer me, I never used any of the armors I could make because there was always something better on the AH. With engineering though, you get to use stuff that only engineers can use, so basically you're making stuff for yourself and yourself only, so you actually kind of feel that it improves your character, unlike tailoring.

So far the most useful and fun things are the trinkets; I have four so far. The Shrink Ray is just a blast, the net launcher I rarely use because it seems to malfunction too much, the jumper cables I rarely use but I keep on-hand just in case (they rez a dead player [unless they explode]), and I just got my robotic battle chicken tonight. The chicken will be pretty cool for tough fights, because with me and my pet, that's a 3 on 1 battle in most situations, and it just looks really cool.

Some of the head-gear and other armor is useful too, and you can use target dummies, dynamite, and other interesting contraptions if you want. I personally don't carry any of this stuff with me because I rarely would use the items, but they're there if you want to work them into your fighting system.

I highly recommend taking up mining for this profession, you will use alot of metal bars, stones, and gems that you get from mining.
