Farming - The gatheringFollow

#1 Jan 28 2005 at 3:46 AM Rating: Default
Maybe it's only me, but i'm getting tired og seeing "farming xxx, farming xxx) and so on..

So i thought we could gather all the farming issues in this topic, and if possible make it a sticky..

I would appreciate only farming stuff here! Said another way:

-DO NOT ask any questions in here, those who know where to farm stuff can, if they wanna contribute to removing all farming-topic's from tradeskills forum, write it here.

-DO NOT comment anything!

Please do as said above, so we all can benefit from this. And reduce the time taking from searching for farming topics.

Shimmering Flats...wonderful place for Lvl 30+ quests and mobs. Also in turn is one of the best place to gather skins. The area is SWARMING with a type of crocolisk, turtles, scorpids, and vultures. That is all that is out there and everyone of em is skinnable except the vulture which does drop feathers for leatherworking though.

There are quests given at Mirage Raceway that require you kill so many of these things for items to turn in, so in turn alot of people who dont skin are leaving bodies around.

While making sure they arent gonna skin them, I honestly scooped up 40 medium leather in about 30 minutes the other day, not to include the 15 heavy leather, 4 heavy hides, and 7 medium hides I got...I would say that is one hell of a catch for 30 minutes.

Another good spot for around lvl 30 is Raptor Ridge in Wetlands, or give the Excavation site a shot there also...lots of skinnable mobs within feet from each other, easy farming.

another good spot is the 40-42 mistvale gorilla area in STV. people are always in this area killing and leaving corpses everywhere. heavy/thick leather drops mostly. you can get a couple stakcks in a few minutes if you're lucky.

Where is a good place for a solo rogue lvl 23 to grind for $$? My leatherworking is at 152, skinning at 179...I'm interested in med leather if possible, but light leather works too. By the way, light leather - at least now and on Dalaran - sells like hotcakes in the AH. I typically get between 12-15s per 10 stack.

I used to grind at the Grizzled Den right outside Ironforge - Wendigo's there are at lvl 6-7...but now they don't even aggro me and I don't want to ruin the fun for others down there by taking out all the creatures just so I can get a boatload of vendor trash and a few ruined scraps to make lights, then to make mediums. But if you're at a 8-12 level and want to grind for leather, it's a great place to go. Most people who go there seem to be gnome mages and most don't skin. There's usually tons of carnage, especially if you follow in a party. You just clean up after them.

I also went to Westfall, just between Sentinal Hill & Moonbrook, and gacked every Great Goretusk I could find, but they don't re-spawn quickly and I end up spending more time fartin' around looking for them.

I'd like to find a place to get relatively easy leather at my lvl without dying. I am not as interested in the xp, as I have quests to take care of that, right now I'm saving up golds for my mount, weaponry, skills, and a few extras. Maybe I'll buy a husband in Stormwind...some of those mages are pretty cute!

Any ideas? Thanks!

A level 23 Rogue should do fine in Duskwood, especially near the river between Duskwood and Elwyn Forest. As you get a level or 2, go further towards Darkshire and get the bigger dogs. You can actually stay in Duskwood from now till 30 just farming Wolves and later Worgens. After 30, farming is still great on the Vile Fangs and Tainted ones, very fast respawn, plus all the questers leaving bodies around. Past 30 check out the Yeti cave just north of Southshore, but watch for ganking Horde from Tauren Mill.

If you travel with a warrior type miner, hitting the Mountain Yeti around the ogre stronghold in Altrec Mountains is great for skins, and the miner will find Iron and Mithril (unless Lopey the ninja-gnome lies in wait for you to kill 30 Yeti, then grabs the Mithril just as you finish off the last mob. Loper, you misspelled your name, the "p" should be replaced with an "s", and the "y" with an "r").
