Farming for Wool, where?!Follow

#1 Jan 25 2005 at 4:24 PM Rating: Decent
Sorry if this has been posted before, but I can not search as I am not a paying member of the forums.

Does anyone know where I can farm for wool?

I am currently based in Desolace, so anywhere near Orgrimar or Undercity would be ok for me to travel to.

Thanks.

Cloth type drops are not mob dependent so much as level dependent. As you most likely know, cloth only drops from humanoid mobs. But the type of cloth is based upon the level of said humanoid mobs. At about level 15, mobs have a small chance to drop wool instead of linen. By level 20 mobs will usually drop wool instead of linen. And your chance of getting wool keeps increasing as the level go higher until mobs start dropping silk.

( addendum to the above ) - you'll start finding Mageweave on mobs around level 35 or 36 occasionally - very common on humanoids in the 42 - 48 range .. level 50+ mobs seem to be dropping Runecloth more than anything else ( i've not gone up against a humanoid above level 52 yet - that one dropped three Runecloth )

You can also get wool by killing and skinning some sheep. :p

This is very true and I keep forgetting about it. When my rogue was very low level I heard about this and started killing sheep whenever I saw them. I felt kind of bad about it as their death cry really pulls at the heart strings, but my greed for larger bags won out. Most of the time I’d skin the sheep and get scrap leather, but from time to time I’d get wool.

Im sorry I went to Boulder Lode Mine, but they drop LINEN not WOOL.

Ok, guys I am a level 37 Undead Warlock, I dont see much sheep around, I am guessing this is in Alliance based area's.

I am trying to get my tailoring up.

Anyone else know where within Horde area I can DEFINITELY get wool drops?

Yes, I play on the alliance side. And don’t worry about sheep. They were a nice addition for low level players to get a bit of wool cloth early on, but sheep spawn sporadically and one at a time so they can’t really be used for skilling up tailoring.

As a level 37 character I’m very surprised you’re having trouble finding wool drops. Any humanoid around 20 to 30 should drop wool, or possibly even silk as they get closer to level 30. Of course, cloth drops in general are usually low unless your so much higher level than the mobs your killing that you can just plow through them. For example, I was farming silk for my priest alt, killing level 30 to 33 rogue mobs as a level 40 rogue myself. I was lucky if I got a stack of silk per hour. It’s been my personal experience that cloth drops are just slow. That’s what’s been holding up my priest’s tailoring. If you can farm money faster, you might be better off doing so and buying wool at the auction house.

Some places to farm wool on the horde side are....

Hillbrad foothills - The farmers, pesants, etc. They are 20+ mobs, Most will drop wool.

Stonetalan Mt. There is a mine with kobols kind of close to the barrens. They typicall drop Wool.

South barens - Most of the humanoids down there drops wool, There is a gnome mining area before razor fin, usually drops wool.

Those are the ones that I can think off hand. The best being Hillsbrad foothills off humans. Spawn rate is high, and there are alot of humans around.

wool drops off of 20-30 lvl humanoid mobs. Find those mobs, and farm away.
