i'm doing tailoring and skinning. A lot of people will say dont do skinning but do enchanting instead, but the skins i use for a few pairs of boots and silk/rune cloth bags. Not only that but the leather sells pretty nicely on the AH at least on Lightning Blade. When i find it no longer useful i might switch to engineering as i've seen some pretty nice lens i could use.. or maybe enchanting. not really worried about it at this point.

er.. btw i'm a 47 human mage

You mentioned First Aid. I'm just gonna take a sec to point out that no matter what you choose for your two skills, you can do First Aid, Cooking and Fishing all on top of those two things.

Now, to your question. I'm a Tailor/Miner. I chose Tailoring because I can make my own "armor" and mining because it is just so easy to make moeny with it. I can keep up my funds so that I'm sure I'll have no problem having the cash for my mount when I get to 40 and I never lack for the money to buy skills. On top of that, whatever I don't find on monsters that I need for tailoring I can easily purchase for less than I get on a stack of copper bars.

I was advised against doing Enchanting with Tailoring because I was told it was fairly difficult to keep up with the monetary end of things, at least in the beginning. Later on, it may be quite profitable. Recently, my fiance gave up Blacksmithing for Enchanting, so I no longer need to worry about it anyways. ;p

My advice is to do Tailoring and Mining. Maybe once you get into the higher realms of Tailoring and are level 25 or 30 switch to Enchanting/Tailoring if you want. By then you won't really need linen for much, but you'll still be finding it, so you can cheaply craft it into Brown Linen Robes to disenchant, and you can find instance groups, especially if you're in a guild, to run through often and get greens/blues to disenchant that way as well.

thank you for all your responses buti wanted to know one more thing wouldnt alchemy and herbalism be good for a mage so she/he can always have that extra boost of mana and/or extra boost of health from a potion??? plus there are lots of buffs that are involved with potions but not so much money is involved with it i hear.....so should i ven consider this or should i trash this idea and go for the money making ways???

Alchemy certainly can be useful, and you will find no shortage of "armor" should you choose to go that route. I've never tried alchemy, although I'm thinking about taking it up on an alt. There is a very nice alchemist in my guild, however, who can make me some very nice defense potions, and potion to add damage to my fire spells and such. I don't know how profitable or not it is, but there are a few threads about it floating aroudn the forum, so I'm sure that it shouldn't be too hard to find out. ^^
