Oh oh... Tribal Leatherworking ... I messed up. Help.Follow

#1 Jan 20 2005 at 10:32 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, I am guessing once I pick a leatherworking subclass to start I can not 'unlearn' it and do any other class.

Here is what I did... I got done with my Wild Leather quests and was thinking that Tribal Leather would be great for me, so I went and started and finished the Tribal Leatherworking quest... to my surprise (not really) the two patterns the lady gave me wont help me in any way.... me being a Rogue... I should have went for Elemental Leatherworking...

I know there are other Tribal patterns, but from what I see Elemental leather would be better for me being a rogue.

Is there any way to unlearn tribal leatherworking?

If not, in theory could I unlearn leatherworking and start from scratch in order to get Elemental? (last ditch effort... one of my guildies better go into elemental)

Yea, I think you can unlearn leatherworking altogether and start from scratch.

I agree that I think you would have to unlearn leatherworking and start from scratch. I am also a rogue, but have decided to go Tribal because of the patterns I have seen, I prefer some of the ones in Tribal over Elemental. Also, could I ask where you got the pattern for the Turtle Scale Gloves? I have been having a heck of a time trying to get it to drop.....

I got very lucky and found the pattern on the AH for 1g buyout. Usually the gloves sell for 3g or so on my server, but the pattern isnt sold regularly.

There are 2 very good pieces for rogues in the tribal line. Devilsaur gauntlets- +stam, +1% crit, +attak. Devilsaur legs- same, better stam/atk. Set bonus of 2% chance to hit increase.

i heard that even if you unlearn leatherworking you still have to be tribal when you get to that point. i think you have to make a new character if you want an elemental leatherworker.

Why not just gather the resources needed, find another leatherworker who is elemental, interact with it, eg:
1: "Hi, i was told by <insert name of informant> that your an elemental worker."
2: "I gatherd all the materials needed for <insert item name here>, and was wondering, if your not busy, could you could craft it for me."
after he does it for you:
3: "Thx alot for helping me <name of elemental worker>, if you ever need any tribal crafting msg me"

Optional:
2: "How much would you charge to make <item> for me if I provide all the materials"
optional as generally any worker will do whatever you want for free if you provide all the materials - with the exception of enchanters.

Its amazing what talking to other people can do for you, try to remember you are in a multi-player game, you do not need to be able to do EVERYTHING you need by yourself.

I know that there was a thread of this nature about engineerign not to long ago in which a person was told that the choice between goblin and gnomish engineering was permanant, and that even if he unlearned engineering and started over, he would just automatically go into the one he had chosen originally. I see no reason why that wouldn't hold true for every craft specialization then. :/ sorry.

You're not really missing out on much. Most of the stuff that can be crafted through leatherworking is complete garbage that a rogue shouldn't ever dream of using. You can always find something better on the AH and it's not like money is hard to come by. As for the few specialty items, I'm sure if you really want the Helm of Fire you can find it on the AH.

Ok, didnt think I needed to make a new thread since it was dealing with the same subject...

Im curious about this 'tribal' and 'elemental' fork in the road with Leathercrafting... first time I've heard about it.

1. What is the diffrence between each of these? (Does one help a certain class vs another... like Hunter vs Druid?)

2. When are you able to choose one or the other (or are there more)? -- Through completing a quest or by a certain level?

3. On this page: http://wow.allakhazam.com/dyn/skill165.html ; Can you tell if the item requires Tribal or Elemental Leatherworking?... (or is there somewhere to find out?)

If you have (or can point me towards a page that has) anymore information regarding each of these (or if there are other ones for Blacksmithing / Tailoring?), I would really appriciate it.

Your local WoW semi-noob (for the time being :), -Rod

*By the way, if its reccomended that I make a new thread for these types of questions, please let me know and I will from now on*

1) Tribal tends to lean more towards spirit and int, whereas elemental leans more to agi and sta. However as previously pointed out there are items in either one that can be considered cross over items, ie: they are fine for the class not expected to gain the most from that specialty.

2) At level 40 the quest is available, it is flagged 55 however and after speaking to a friend who also went elemental like I am, it aint now fun. He is 60 now and still not done.

3) On that page you can't tell, nor have I seen any indicators on Thottbot that specify, if you peruse some of the items though you can spot which ones may fall under which specialty, keep in mind that right now there are only 4 recipes that I am aware of per specialty so I wouldn't get too worked up over even specializing at all right now.

I'm sort of surprised someone hasn't just asked this yet, but could we get some kind of list of the items each specialization creates and their stats? I know there aren't very many, but it's difficult to figure out which items require which specialization from this website and others.
