Goblin and Gnomish EngineeringFollow

#1 Jan 04 2005 at 5:40 PM Rating: Decent
I am a level 30 mage engineer. It is that time where I need to decide if I want to be a Goblin or Gnomish Engineer. The problem I am having though I can not find a description on either or a list of devices I can make with each.

Would it be possible if someone could write up a description of each as well as some of the possible things you can make with each?

Also I am based in IronForge where do I get the quest for each one? Thanks so much.

You need to be 210 in engineering before he offers the quest. The quest giver is just outside the tram in IF. I went with Gnomish engineering so I can't comment on the goblin side and what you can produce as a Goblin Engineer. As a gnome engineer you can make a net device, death ray, higher end goggles (Gnomish Goggles is the name), and other devices. Goblin Engineers make more bombs and guns as opposed to devices.

goblins get: goblin sapper charges, The Big one, goblin mortor, goblin rocket boots, goblin rocket helmet, goblin flame thrower, Recpie: goblin rocket fuel and some others i can't remember

the one nice thing is though you can't build it yourself you can use the other schools items if you get someone to build it for you.

and currently goblin rocket boots aren't class restricted to engineer. I am not sure if this is a bug or if its suposed to be like that

goblin is more some various larger bombs.

Gnome is some various trinket items and such.

After getting to near 300 on gnome in the beta, I'd say go goblin. ANY gnome engineer can make you the shrink ray, gnomish battle chicken, death ray, etc trinkets. You only need those items made ONCE. You can then use them forever, even as a goblin engineer.

Meanwhile, goblin stuff is expendable items you make over and over again. So you have more engineering items to make with goblin. With gnome I made all those trinkets that I could, then I had nothing else to make really.

Interesting I just hit 210 Engineering and still haven't made up my mind yet. Ahh decisions decisions, well I like all the trinkets n such but man its nice to be different. I need to research this a bit further and find a nice comparison guide.

There are alot of Key items that I would obviously want to get through Gnomish but also some really cool bombs and stuff for Goblin sooo...hmm...I hate making decisions like this.

Oh well..off to find a guide.

I am open for reasoning if you want to post opinions.

Holy crap!! I have the sudden urge to drop engineering now because of this various problem, Gnome or Goblin? Well not that I'm prejudice or anything it seems to me that the stuff that gnomes can make is a little bit more reliable and less dangerous than the goblin side, but it also lacks the fun that the goblins have to play with. Oh well guess I'll hafta wait and see where I land when the time comes to choose a specialty route.

actually both gnome and goblin malfunction about the same amount. i personally use a gnome shrink ray and a goblin dragon gun, both of which malfunction the same amount.

as to goblin vs gnome, find another engineer to pair with and go one way each. i have a friend who is a gnome engineer and i am a goblin engineer, he made me a shrink ray, i made him a dragon gun.

just pair up and whenever you need a device from the other faction i normally send a mail with the ingredients to my friend he will then mail me back a finished product and vice versa.

so basically find another engineer and have the best of both worlds :D

edit: "og" != "of"

I have opted to go with Gnomish Engineering. Two additional questions:

1. Can I switch to goblin or am i stuck with Gnomish
2. I am capped at 240 right now(lvl 32 gnome warlock). Where is the master engineer that can raise my cap? The one in IF won't do it.
