It's just like all other major tradeskills, keep in mind that you must also have the requisite level to match. The Artisan smith's and miners are in Ironforge I believe. I know that the Artisan smith is there right next to the great forge. There is a miners guild building close by just ask the guards

you can smelt gold before mithril and mithril is available at skill level 175... just ask the trainer in IF.

I trained in smelting gold and mithril today and my skill is only around 190. I trained both in Ironforge. The trainer is north of the GREAT FORGE. Not the trainer at the forge.

as a side not i leveled up my engineering today and made some explosive sheep. Heheh, I can't wait to go to goldshire and try them out on some unsuspecting farm boys.

You can smelt Mith and Gold at 175. My skill is 190something and I do it now.

The regular old city mining trainers will train you to max skill. It doesn't have to be a special one. Any mining trainer works.
