You need to talk to the artisan enchanter.

The horde one is in sun rock retreat.

I'm new to Enchanting and I was wondering if there is a easier way to get the items you need for the skill... ex: Lesser Magic Essence and Strange Dust?????

basically you've chosen the hardest tradeskill there is - and you'll lose money IMO - I'm an enchanter with 181 skill, to get the parts I need to enchant items I am forced to disenchant just about every green/blue item that comes my way that I cannot use....or take up a skill that allows you to create these types of items so you can disenchant them....or be a slave to the AH.

if anyone has a better idea ~ please post them.

Blizzard even says on the site Enchanting is the most difficult skill to build, but has some of the biggest rewards. (The end-game buffs are PSYCHO.) It's not for the weak of heart, and you really should have a good amount of friends ready to help you out with item donations to make your life much easier.

Dusts, essences and shards have just recently made their appearance in the auction house. If you have the money to spend, they can be easily obtained there. :)

Also your basic strange dust and leser essences are readily available at all enchanter supply vendors for 8S each, just make the round and gather them up.

*shrug* My Mage is at 117 skill in Enchanting and is up to her ears in Strange Dust, Soul Dust, Greater Astral Essence, Large Glimmering shards, and the like. Problem is, I need to find out what level of items coughs up lesser and greater MAGIC essences and small glimmering shards. My guildmates constantly mail me green/blue items to disenchant but rarely need anything enchanted so I'm flush on materials (even stuff I can't use yet) with nothing to use it on. And I'm not going to become one of those folks spamming trade channel in IF or Stormwind every 4 seconds. Besides, that's usually the territory of the 225+ skill enchanters who can and will undercut you in price. In fact, I have to level the Mage to 20ish so she can go along on trips to Deadmines and loot all the bind on pickup drops to disenchant (lot of that stuff goes to waste as it is now :( ).

That would be my best advice to you. Do Deadmines a lot and I'm thinking you'll find a lot of items you can disenchant for materials. At least that's what I found. Just go through the dungeon and kill EVERY mob. The last time we did DM (basically with a much higher level group except my rogue who was 20), a lot of loot rotted cuz we didn't have space to loot it.

I'm currently (probably) the only 300-skill enchanter on my server and I can honestly say it's a profession only for those with deep pockets. I haven't been able to simply vend an uncommon/rare in a very long time. Most of my items get melted immediately or some of the better ones get put up for auction. I then go back and take the money and buy out crappy lv 40-50 uncommons that people make and disenchant more. Some of the formulas I use now take probably 20 disenchants to do one. There are ways to make back some of your money though. I find many people willing to pay 15g for demonslaying or greater striking
