Hume Female (player is male), Bastok Rank 10.
Silveria started playing shortly after WotG was released (~3 months ago) and was invited into my social LS by... someone... before distinguishing himself as one of the biggest leeches on the server. For a guy who's been playing for under 4 months, he already has 2 Astral Rings, a glut of other expensive gear, and Rank 10 whereas most people are unlocking their first advanced job by this point.
Anyway, the true warning about Silveria is that he is extremely selfish and unwilling to devote time or gil to return favors. He's famous for asking for help in /tells so the LS wouldn't catch on. Yet after a few of us started talking, we sat down and compared notes only then realizing exactly how much help Silveria had been asking for. Most of us b-listed him on the spot, since the LS Leader refused to kick him. I held out with a b-listing until he spammed /tells and asked me to leave a Dynamis run to help him with an AF quest >.>
The problem is that my social LS is full of helpfull players, which Silveria has taken complete advantage of. It took the LS awhile to catch on, but as more and more members b-list him I expect he'll be looking for a new main LS to infest soon. If you should see him in yours, don't be fooled by the Rank or the fact that he likes to talk like a more experienced player and pass himself off as an old-timer, he's a complete n00b and a selfish one at that.

yeah, I was in a party with that person, For Hardly an hour, and didn't like him on the spot. So that says something right there.
when a half assed geared brd is trying to tell the rest of a party...
1) how to be better at being the other jobs in the party
2) how to pull/tank/be a cor/be a dnc/be a whm
3) not know how to line up so the pld, who is standing away from the DD's so he could get ballad, AND NOT GET BALLAD
and I know 1 and 2 are kinda the same thing, but... I really cant say anything good about Silveria.

I really dunno what to say to this. Yes I used to ask for help alot when I first started out, I am sure everyone did when they were new (or in my case on a new account after a 4 year absence). If it annoyed people this much why didn't anyone just tell me? The problem would have been fixed easly. Now a days I just try to do things for myself and avoid bugging people. Also you have to remember: FFXI is very party centered so many things are not able to be done on your own even when you are the right level to do them. For example AF, a lv 50-60 whm cannot kill coffer mobs on their own, nor can they kill the NM's needed to gain AF pieces, No job can at the level they can use the items.

That sounds about right. He likes to pass himself off as much more knowledgable than he is, citing how he used to play before Zilart was released (z0mg!) etc. etc. which is how he's burned a lot of bridges with our LS. When a player with ~4 months of experience is trying to tell 75s with years of experience how they should be playing their jobs better, there's something wrong. I made up my mind about Silv when he began lecturing the LS about how useless CHR is for a BRD... before he even had the job unlocked. >.<
This isn't to say that once you ding 75 you're sudden infallable- but once you've had the displeasure of PTing with Silv and being told why your gear, nationality, choice of character model, or macros make you inferior to him, you'll begin to understand. If he was helpful, or returned favors, this attitude might be easier to take but sadly he is neither.

I have no idea where your getting any of these ideas from but if any one is selfish it's you. You are obviously a terrible leach on society, I'm sure that when you were a nub (prolly still are and forever will be) you were the biggest leach and now that you have a high level job or two you don't help any one. I asked for my stuff back and he said no.
