=Disclaimer= This post is liable to be LONG, that's what happens when you put a bored person who misses his server and wishes to see it do more. Apologies in advance for the WallofText(tm).

I know I've barely registered on the Remora-radar since worldxferring my original account to Remora, last Oct. but dammit, I'm venting.

Haven't logged on since Xmas, due to a string of real life nightmare issues, can't log on now even if I wanted to, due to owning no hardware capable of playing FFXI.
Is it a sign of addiction, to be considering websites offering free electronics, just to be able to do something that allows you to relax?

My wife and I run/ran a fairly successful little LS for the last few months, might not have swarmed with members, or done things that would warrant 'respect' in the big bad world of endgame, but we're proud of being able to pass on lessons in game mechanics and party makeup that I hear are now starting to be lacking in the post lv65 world.

We taught people how to do Promyvion, and keep it fun, and how not to rely on 'omg if we don't have 2 (insert job here), we're screwed!' mentality. We took on the annoyance factor of getting upwards of 100 people through Dem/Mea/Holla, and over 50 of those through Phomiuna Aqueducts, most of them then ran off on their own and are now sporting Rajas/Tamas/etc.

We like doing the 'lowbie crap' that others, sometimes arrogantly, think is now beneath them.
We like trying to rebuild the sense of community that used to be more prevalent years ago.

That spirit isn't dead, it's still alive on this server, it's just harder to get access to those people who still show it.
People like Ayrlie, and Uraeguag, who post intelligently, no matter if it's in this forum, or other parts of the site.
People like Intimmydation, who I'm honored to have in my ls, and who showed true friendship in real life, to a couple that he only knew in-game, I wouldn't be able to even write this rambling post if not for him providing transport for my wife and I to move from OK to KS.
People who still come to this site, regardless of server, and don't worry about karma-bombs, or stupid teenage opinions, who realise this is a game as well as a community.

I just wish more people would pull their heads out of their butts, and try to help everyone improve in some small way. This game -isn't- written by Blizzard, and I personally don't want to see it die sometime this year just because people aren't encouraged to put some time in at the beginning in order to see what's really on offer later.

That said, making the 1-18/sub/1-30/adv nightmare a little easier to navigate would be nice. DNC seems to have helped with that, but the major downside of that job is now that most of the people who would be inclined to level it, thus being able to help parties learn how to party, already have DNC levelled past 30... (sigh, damn vicious circle)

Ok, i'm done rambling randomly, guess I'll sit here and patiently wait to see if anyone bothers to read the wall of text and respond to it.

The Wookiee has quit FFXI for the foreseeable future, he prefers EvE, and is shipping out tomorrow to parts unknown.

I have access to a MacBook, which, combined with the donated laptop that Lynara should be receiving this weekend, BootCamp, a severe amount of luck, will enable us both to log back on in the near future.

In the meantime, I'm trying to secure a better piece of hardware to be able to play on myself.

No cowtipping.. we're living in Wichita already, decent apartment. Currently planning when to go rescue the rest of our stuff from our old place.

Well, thanks for the compliment. That pretty much is my goal whilst playing, help others first even at my own expense, and remind people that pre-endgame is fun too.
The LS my wife started, pretty much embodies that statement.

Even whilst not playing, I've somehow encouraged my roommate to start playing, just as soon as my wife and I log back on. He wants to be a Taru DRK, which fills me with such mirth, because I know he's going to actually ROLEPLAY it, and angry midgets amuse me.

Mass Effect doesn't hold any appeal to me, but then, most games don't now.
Assassin's Creed and the Orange Box (for TF2/Portal) might be the only 360 titles I buy after I get one, I already have the FFXI discs for 360, which is the only reason I'm bothering to get one.

See, I have the exact opposite problem, I want to play, and can't.

And even if I could play, I have no idea what I'd do when I got on, probably just stand in my MH and twitch for an hour.

Sure, some of your posts might be crap, everyone posts crap at some point, whether to blow off steam, make a joke, or whatever.
You still post gems most of the time, your attitude speaks volumes.

Believe me, if I had my way, I'd be poaching and cross-pollinating Remora with the cream of Alla' and other sites.
I already brought Grumpywookie over to us, then of course, he found EvE and quit, and is now on a military posting.. but I did drag him over.

I think a large part of it is due to the fact that "our 75's" on Remora aren't as elitist as most seem to be on other servers, and you tend to bump into a lot more of them from day to day.

It might be popular or cool to bash on 'lolRemora', but it really does have one of the best communities that I've seen.

Then you need a hobby. Try being a student. Going out partying every night is a tough job but someone's got to do it.
