This is my rant about this server, why does nobody level in bubu? Why hunt clippers for rock salt or lizzies for tails when u can hunt sylvestre for cotton and crawlers for silks? Plus you get the same xp roughly. So WHY are people so afraid of this place?

i for one went to the Dunes because its the ideal place for people to level up so more experienced players tell me. There's just too many of those damn goblins in the peninsula plus in the dunes theres always more advanced players willing to assist us. a good example of this being there was a party of six of us last night. two of us are new players (whm14) (blm 14) and three people were levelling subjobs. A guy came and stood by us and helped us by making sure goblins didnt attack us while we were fighting crabs, he cured us when our mp ran out and didnt ask for anything. (if your reading this thank you REED!!!!)

The only reason there are more gobs in bubu is because theres no1 killing them. Bubu has just as much potential as the dunes, but people are afraid of this place just because the subjob quest has to do with killing the bogy. That is still no excuse for anyone to ignore this place, seeing how they can't take the quest until lvl18 anyway.

I always kind of wondered this myself , but my best explanaition would be that it takes a bit longer to get there if you are a newer player from Sandy or Bastok. Instead of running 2-3 zones you have to run through 4 and the get on the boat which can take some time , and for most lower lvl players is a somewhat dangerous trip depending on if there are any higher lvl folks on the boat who can kill some of the harder mobs (cause some n00b always wants to go on deck... they never just stay below , then as soon as they get aggroed by a sea monk or god forbid the Sea Horror they Immedietly bring it back below decks)

Thats my theory on it, that there are 2 cities closer to the dunes where there is only one near Bubu. But I gladly make the trip to the maze when I'm looking for a lower lvl pt!

I leveled in bubu a long time ago and it was good exp. The problem with bubu is that there aren't enough people there. If you need to replace someone, you have to bring from far away most likely. If you really want to level there, get a static. Another nice place to level is maze of shakrami. Its a mage placem so melee, even tanks are useless. Just recently me a smn, another smn and a blm were taking out maze makers effortlessly. From level 9 until 15, getting 200 exp off each mob. We were skillchaining avatars and mb with the blm. 1 SC almost kill a maze maker. Banish was also a very potent spell doing good damage. The great part of that was that we did not have to fight anyone for mobs. I know the lizard spawn can be hell in the dunes if it is overcamped. If your party is sitting in an overcamped lizard spawn in the dunes, you might suggest they make the trip.

On a more serious note, Truly you should consider Bubu as a valid leveling area from about 14+, it's not that hard to pick up mages who are just getting a little high for the the maze. Also since it's under used, you will usualy find better quality of player there.

One of the advantages of dealing with a more dificult area is that players learn how to avoid agro from mobs. So the players to do get are less likely to make stupid mistakes that get everyone killed. It's called the game of dodge-gob. These days I can get from one end of bubu to the other (defined as the tahrongi zone to Mhaura) as a level 10 character without getting agro. Just experience. This is a fairly important skill to learn. You'll need to use it under many circumstances.

And the lack of other parties competing for mobs means that a good puller can just rake in the mobs as fast as the party can handle.
